Welcome to Librarium Online!
I was wondering, what is the best way to equip my exalted champion of chaos??? thanks. I'm a noob to this so advice would be great.
That is not dead which may eternal lie,
for in strange aeons even death may die.
hello! well there is no complete answer, as it depends entirely on what sort of character are you playing (this means god, mount, purpose) so i'm gonna make you some examples.
first of all: the chariot mounted character
in my opinion the only character to mount on a chariot is a tzeentch one with the golden eye, because otherwise one single shot would leave your fancy boy alone in the middle of the battlefield
if you mount the character on a daemonic mount you can take the berserker sword+enchanted shield, gaining about 3 attacks and having a 2+ armor save, which could be enough - but i suggest this on a nurgle character, who could be wounded on 6s and has 1 extra wound.
and maybe this one goes with marauder horsemen and so becomes a light cavalry model with 7attacks@S5 and fear-causing too
a tzeentch champion, with 2 dispel scrolls or a power familiar or whatever...
if mounted on a bcs he still has 4 attacks and 2+ armour (good for a mage ain't it?)
tzeentch champ with the chalice of chaos and spell familiar - 3 spells and 5+ ward save (not always)
the shield guy:
khorne character with collar of khorne and axe of khorne
this one is for shielding a unit of chosen from magic and for accepting challenges with a reasonable possibility to slay the enemy hero in one turn
champ on foot with great weapon and helm of many eyes, possibly khorne or slaanesh to avoid stupidity...if khorne you have 5 attacks@S7 !!!
the monster slayer:
anyway fielded - with the rending sword
the cheap general:
with the gaze of the gods and a weapon or the enchanted shield for ultra durability
these are the heroes i used until now, but there are infinite combinations...
just read the armybook and let ideas come to you!
how do you mean?? what mark you wana have him??
For an undivided Exalted Champion I had good experiences with a chaos steed (with a shield a good 1+ save for reasonable cost  ) and the Sword of Might.
the leftover pool for magic items can be spent differently:
Gaze of the Gods or Armour of Damnation for better defensive qualities, although I seldom employ them; if I have to rely on them the battle has gone wrong anyways, but I have to mention that my opponents seldom employ armour negating stuff besides artillery (so I got my "Lookout, Sir" against cannons and suchlike and in CC the armour bonus from being mounted should cover most). If your opponents play other item combos then it's of course different.
Other gimmicks for a tactical approach, like the Bloodhunt Horn (I suggest getting the Beasts Armybook, too :w00t: ) or the already mentioned Helm of many Eyes.
The latter makes also a nice enemy charge deterrent (It's very risky getting 4 Attacks Strength 6 or 7, depending on weapons, before your lance charge or whatever can even hit)
But notice that you will still be subject to stupidity even if immune to psychology, it's in the helm's description.
It ain't easy bein' green... :-)
I am startled that no one has mentioned Blade of Blood. For an exalted champion I would equip him with a blade of blood and an enchanted shield which gives him a great save even though on foot. As said before, not many use anti-armoursave items in small points game.

For small armies in particular you really dont need much more than his basic equipment.well, i'm starting a small chaos army, so i say undivided since he is going to be my general and i want to keep my options open.
I field one of two options,
1- Put him in an infantry unit with a shield and hand weapon. He will still benefit from a "look out sir" rule and in combat has a 2+ save as well as being an excellent troop muncher.
2- Put him in a unit of knights. A shield and horse and he is already a tank.
In anything 750-1000 or less he rarely needs anything else to keep points minimal. If anything just field another one.
