it has come to my attention that whenever a new unit of for example spece marines are realesed they always win?
and the players dont seem to use their own models..
why have a battle report if it is staged??

I'd say no. Perhaps so when new models are being tested yes, although the latest Tyranid kill-team lost, did they not?

I also disagree, because in some cases the new army loses, or at least doesn't put a very good show...
The ones I can remember is the nids VS IG one, where the nids won, but where almost utterly crashed by a deathwatch team... also, if I remember correctly, the ogers didn't fare that well against the dwarfs...
Depends what you mean by faked, I suspect they may be "Engineered" a little, I mean occasionaly, we all play games that end on turn 2 or 3 with the complete decimation of one side or the other, usually due to the dice gods, obviously if something like this happened, I would not xpect them to put in a very short battle report, but completely made up? no I doubt it
I reckon that some of them are. After all the death wtch kill team managed to kill double it's value in points. The tyranids won. Remember the one where it was the new SM termies vs necrons. The necrons were made from a poorly built list and the fact that he didn't take a res. orb because he was "trying a new approach from the boring res. orb." and ofcourse the termies would win. They're an entire force made of termies for god's sake! I think that GW is staging it for another way to promote the new, 10x more expensive models.

I don't think many of them are, or though, as Zed pointed out, crons vs. termies may have been. They probalably have lots of battle reports and just publish the ones that are intresting.

Let X=X- Laurie Anderson :)I met this guy, and he looked like he might have been a hat check clerk from an ice rink, which, infact, he turned out to be. And I said "oh boy, right again."
I don't believe this is so. For one when the Tau came out they won in both battle reports they were in. They won against salamanders and nids'. The players rarely use their own models. The rest of the time they use the studio models. They play many practice games and stuff. I think they just use the most entertaining game. Calling all other games "practice". And actually there were a few games that were mostly one sided. I remember a Emperor's Children vs. Necrons battle report in which the EC were schooling necrons for pretty much the whole game. I don't really wanna go find the issue. (I've been subscribed to WD for a number of years so that's way to many issues).Originally Posted by Astroth

I found the Necrons vs terminators one a bit hard to swallow given my own experiences with Necrons, however, I still dont think that most of the battle reports are fixed. Most seem to be pretty realistic battles that show strengths and weaknesses in the new units. Aside from the Necrons/Termie one, I have yet to read a report that was completely engineered in favor of one army or another. And keep in mind that kill teams is based on the completion of objectives, not victory points. So the Deathwatch kill team COULD kill twice its points and still fail the mission if they couldnt complete the objective. I've seen it happen plenty of times, especially with Space Marine kill teams. There was one instance where a SM team was trying to get through a door: to do so they had to be clear of CC for a turn, and roll a 4-6 on a d6. However, IG goon squads kept coming at them. The SMs must have killed off 30 or 40 IG just there at the door, but they were never able to make it through...eventually they were wiped out just due to the dice gods.
If they had fights less interesting than the WD300 Orks (tournament) v's SM(tailored to beat Orks) then I dont know what was, 6 turns of Orks moving towards a Marine gun line and never reaching combat was great.Originally Posted by Evil Sheep

However although some of them are Blatantly unfair e.g Klutchmiers Last stand. 56 inches in 6 turns, all the Tyranids had to do was destroy a Chimera on turn 1 or 2 and IG couldn'y possibly win.
Every time you read this sig: a fairie dies!
yeah this type of stuff seems to be repeating in the BR. i remember when i thought it was fun to read untill i realised that that stuff dont happen in real life, proffessionals dont do that.
IMO the best battle report is in the 3rd ed rulebook eldar VS space marines.
