It's been awhile since I dusted off my Sisters, we recently wrapped a campaign, followed by a tournament in which I played my Dark Eldar force. So with the start of a new challenge board I decided to bring out my girls. Heres the list I'm looking to run. As I said it's been awhile since I played them (and to be honest I've never had great success with them) so any advice is appreciated. 1 Canoness (HQ) Inferno Pistol (x1); Blessed Weapon Book of Saint Lucius Cloak of Saint Aspira Litanies of Faith Frag Grenades 7 Celestian Bodyguard Bolter (x5); Meltagun (x2); Frag Grenades 1 Veteran Sister Superior Plasma Pistol (x1); Power Weapon (x1); Frag Grenades 1 Rhino APC Storm Bolter Smoke Launchers Extra Armour 1 Priest (HQ) Commander: Celestian Bodyguard; Power Weapon (x1); Las Pistol Frag Grenades 9 Battle Sisters Squad (Troops) Bolter (x7); Heavy Flamer (x1); Flamer (x1) 1 Veteran Sister Superior Plasma Pistol (x1); Power Weapon (x1) Book of Saint Lucius 1 Rhino APC Storm Bolter Smoke Launchers Extra Armour 9 Battle Sisters Squad (Troops) Bolter (x7); Heavy Flamer (x1); Flamer (x1) 1 Veteran Sister Superior Plasma Pistol (x1); Power Weapon (x1) Book of Saint Lucius 1 Rhino APC Storm Bolter Smoke Launchers Extra Armour 9 Battle Sisters Squad (Troops) Bolter (x7); Storm Bolter (x2) 1 Veteran Sister Superior Power Weapon (x1); Storm Bolter Book of Saint Lucius 7 Seraphim Squad (Fast Attack) 2 Bolt Pistols (x5); 2 Hand Flamers (x2); Frag Grenades; Krak Grenades; Meltabombs 1 Veteran Sister Superior Plasma Pistol (x1); Power Weapon (x1); Frag Grenades; Krak Grenades; Meltabombs Book of Saint Lucius 5 Dominion Squad (Fast Attack) Bolter (x1); Meltagun (x4) 1 Veteran Sister Superior Plasma Pistol (x1); Power Weapon (x1) Book of Saint Lucius 1 Immolator Twin-Linked Multi-Melta 7 Retributor Squad (Heavy Support) Bolter (x3); Heavy Bolter (x4) 1 Veteran Sister Superior Storm Bolter Book of Saint Lucius 1 Exorcist (Heavy Support) Exorcist Missile Launcher 1 Exorcist (Heavy Support) Exorcist Missile Launcher Starting Faith: 9 Models in Army: 68 Total Army Cost: 2000

Overall, I like the list. Highly mobile, good mix of firepower. But there are a few things missing that could make a major difference for you. Imagifiers. In particular, I'd add one each to the Celestians and Retributers. Adding a Sacred Standard to the Celestians as well could be very good. As for scrounging points to get those squeezed in... Could drop the storm bolters from the one foot-slogging sister squad. And given the melta-Dominions and Exorcists, you could probably remove the meltabombs from the Seraphim, and just give the Vet some as wargear to make do in a pinch. That would free enough for at least the 2 imagifiers. Oh, and I'd probably drop at least one Meltagun from the Celestians for a Flamer. Maybe both for a Flamer and Heavy Flamer. Maybe give the vet superior a Brazier of Holy Fire instead of the Plasma Pistol. 3 Flamer templates with Divine Guidince just before a charge of Celestians with a priest and cannoness backing them up could be extremely nasty, and with an Imagifier, far more feasible. |

I wouldn't bother with the Stormbolter Sisters either. With Retribs and Exorcists and Seraphim flying about their long range fire will be marginal. Get more Sisters with HFlamers, Flamers and Meltaguns. Since this squad has no transport it may well get stuck behind as the rest of the Sisters zoom off. I've seen this happen, very irritating. The Exorcists could do with some vehicle kit. Extra armour is useful as it lets them retreat behind cover if stunned. Smoke launchers are not so essential for Exo's as they need to be firing. Searchlights might well be useful, and they're only 1 point. Power weapons on Sisters are not that great a prospect. The problem is their low Strength. Much of the time, especially against MEq's, you'll fail to wound. Personally I either give them Bolters, Bolter-Flamers or Eviscerators. These options are respectively cheap, add firepower and let you splat MEq's when attacked in cc. Eviscs are also dangerous to vehicles, giving AT ability to the battle squads. If you're planning on taking a Priest then why not get some Penitent Engines for variety. While not really that effective, I find them hilarious. They tend to die really quick, or rampage through the enemy. Best for less competitive games. |

Both posts full of good ideas. I'd love to toss in a squad of Penitent Engines, but as it is right now, I only have one. Also I don't want to drop any of the heavy choices. Once I have a fourth rhino, that lagging squad will get some transportation. I find that flamers work better for others, and not for me, so I'm reluctant to toss in any more. At best I fire them once, and it's usually with minimal effect. I should try to run with some imagifiers, it's something i've never used before (aside from the free one you get with the Seraphim Superior) This has given me some items to ponder however. Thank you for the replies so far.

whats up with all the books of st. lucius? its not needed on the battle sister squads. Drop litanies of faith for a rosarius. i would leave the storm bolters on the walking squad. its nice harassment fire. power weapons are fine on battle sisters because for only 10pts they can almost always make up their pts. Drop the seraphims' plasma pistol for purity seals and a brazier of holy fire. its quite fun rolling 4D6 for hit and run. Love your hvy supports, exactly the same as mine except i have x-armour on exorcists. i would strongly recomend it as it can save your exorcist, allowing it to make a dash for safety when it cant shoot. Otherwise, I like it. |
