Hammer of the Witches... yay or nay?

i'm using an inquistor as an ally in my 2000 pts tanith tourney army and was wondering if hammer of the witches is worth its salt. as it stands i don't really have any other psykers or psy powers/defense in my army.

is hammer of the witches worth it?

Unless your opponents are going to be running a lot of psykers in their armies Nay, if you don't know who your going to face then I say Yay. Due to my answer I can't really vote, any more then that.

Hsmmer works if you face multiple psychers, so If you are expecting to bump into an Edlar Psycher army, or potentially certain kinds of Nids armies, or you know some one has a powerful psychic HQ then fine, otherwise no

In a tournament setting, where you're likely to face various armies (hopefully), taking something thats specifically anti-psyker usually isn't a good idea. The odds are that the points will end up being wasted. Buy something a little more solid. Personally, I'd go with Scourging.

I think it's mostly been said already, The way I analyse things like this is either

A. You don't know who you'll be facing and there are many armies where it just won't help at all, or
B. You know who you'll be facing and are sort of unfairly taking advantage of the fact taht you know which army you'll be playing (I feel this way a lot when my DH friend takes Sacred Incense when I play Chaos ( it's not like I can tell him not to, because it's a valid wargear selection, I just think hate when he does - playing friendly is supposed to be about having fun, not winning every time)

I of course don't mean to imply that you're like a bad person or anything, this is just how i think about issues like this, hope it helps

Don't the Nid psychers automatically pass the LD test anyway?

Some do, but some powers still require a test. It all depends on the power.

I say Nay. I play WH and never found use for Psychic Powers yet! Actually, I almost always go SOB-pure without Inquisitors at all... Their contribution to the army seems minimal...
