hi guys, i play VC but now i am starting to play wood elves as my second army. i wrote up a 1000 pts list and wanted to see what you guys thought. first i'll tell you what models i have to work with and then i'll give you the list.
MODELS I HAVE:
24 Glade Guards
8 Glade Riders
20 Eternal Guards
HERE IS THE LIST THAT I HAVE WRITTEN UP:
Noble w/ Amber Pendant and Eternal Kindred
(he will be placed with eternal guard to make them stubborn)
Spellsinger, lvl2 with Calaingor's Stave and a dispel scroll
20 Eternal Guards w/ full command. Also carrying Banner of Dwindling
12 Dryads with champion
for my last unit it will be either
8 Glade Riders w/ full command
17 Glade Guards w/ Full command
let me know what you guys think. i know i can't really change too much with the units but i know i could use some help with what the characters are equiped with. thanks guys

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
for my noble i was thinking about doing the great weapon combo after i had written this up. since those in base contact will be stiking last, he can really do some damage.
the only reason i wanted the spellsinger to be lvl2 was to try to make the trees move as much as i could in the magic phase.
i'm used to playing VC and having strong magic and having a horde army to outnumber and autobreak my enemy, but i'm still trying to figure out the wood elves tactics.
the reason i placed the banner with eternal guard was because i hate it when i make someone break from combat and then i miss catching them by an inch. i would rather just run them down and get it over with.
but i will definetly make some changes. i like your idea of the 2 units of 12 GG. i guess i could get at least one of them into woods and shoot the whole game to mess up the opponents tactics.
thanks for the ideas.
First I would definitely take the Glade Guard over the Glade Riders. 20 some odd Glade Guard will do you wonders. Also, it is my belief that Glade Riders need never be in units larger than 5.
Level 2, at 1k a level 2 with the stave can do some magic. This is a small enough game IMO that you will be able to get some stuff across, though it will still not be very strong against most armies.
For eternal kindred, if you want this, I'd suggest taking a Great Weapon also. Also, take the Dryad champ out. (For reasons others said) Hope this helps.
Overall, I like your list. I would recommend giving the Eternal Guard the War Banner instead of Faoghir - the combat res will help you a lot more than the reduced fleeing distance.
2x10 glade guard would also be a boon. Glade Riders have their uses for sure, but in a list like this I think you'll get more out of the massed archery.
Welcome to the Wood Elves!
Yeah, I keep trying to find a good use for them, yet whenever I think I've found something...it gets shot down. I mean the premise is good but little knots in the rules make it ahhh. Like can't use a Great Weapon with the benifits etc or not being able to have a BSB as a kindred...that would be a nice thing it they allowed it: EG kindred BSB with AoN.
I agree with the 2 units of 10 glade guard better than the glade riders because in small points games they are a points sink. Also if you can find extra points drop 5 eternal guard and find 36 more points to throw 8 more dryads into the mix.A seperate unit of course.
