Welcome to Librarium Online!
Working on my 1000 point version of my 500 pt list. Themed around Mayan Jaguar Warriors, and the story of the Hero twins Hunahpu and Xblanque.
Basically its centered around Hunahpu and his wardancers (adding a few lizardmen weapons for the mayan flavor) A few conversions of wardancers into ball players with the bladed balls that the gods of Xibalba attempted to use to kill the twins....but I'm digressing into too much fluff....heres the list
Hunahpu (deployed with wardancers)
-Wardancer Kindred, Blades of Loec
Xblanque (deployed either in glade guard as nasty surprise or somewhere to run at the enemy see alter kindred and culture obsession notes at end of list)
-Alter Kindred, GW, LA, SH, Hail of Doom Arrow, HoTH
10 Glade guard w/ Champ+Musician
5 Scouts w/ Champ
8 Glade Riders w/ Champ+Musician
7 Wardancers w/ Champ+Musician
Things I'm contemplating:
Ditching the Glade Riders for another set of GG and Scouts. Gives me an additional 7 shots per round, and gets rid of the non culturally fitting Horsemen. (I include them, as as a WE newbie, I hate to limit my choices, but Id feel more comfortable without horses)
Dryads actually fit the bill since we're discussing said hero twins. In one version of the story (one i prefer) Their fathers head ended up in a tree, where the fruit started to grow to look like it. Their mother went to speak to the tree, and the skull got her pregnant with the hero twins.
The Story of the Hero Twins from Wiki(Link)
About the Cultural thing. I prefer the Mayan and Aztec styles, art, and stories to the traditional Western European or Asian. Thus I was originally drawn to lizardmen, and ended up studying them without building an actual army for around 2 years. Then I switched over to WE, and am actually collecting to match my obsessions once I realized I had a chance to bring in two of my favorite characters from their history.
Also, once I hit 1500 ill be adding a branchwraith with cluster, modeling it as a tree with skull fruit (Hun-Hunahpu, Their Father).
As I spent time with the Lizard addicts, one tactic I grew somewhat fond of the concept and surprises of was the Jaguar Saurus Of Doom trojan unit. A slower moving unit would allow someone to get just outside their charge range, generally a fragile unit that needed the charge (our army is full of them) and then charge their 9" movement, multiple attack GW wielding lizard out into their faces. I realized that i can use the Alter for the same purpose. So I figure at 1000, ill swap him in and out of the GG as his trojan unit. Fire the HoDA out of the GG, and then charge him out when needed.
dit: Also, at 1500 points ill likely add in a Treeman, modeled with monkeys climbing in it (One Howler Monkey, and One Artisan)

mea Culpa, posted in wrong forum, could a kindly Mod like Cyric Please shift this into the army list forum for woodelves? (forgive a lurker an honest mistake?)
Mea Culpa on Alter, missed that line.....Thus, he shall be free range!
why do you consider the ranged champs a flat out waste? seems like the drop to a 2+ shot from 3+ a few times a battle might make a wound or two difference. In exchange for two champs i could add another glade guard, or for all three i could add another scout.
Also, the Jaguar skin Loincloths on the Wardancers are looking like theyll be awesome, havent finished any. but i AM looking to tie the entire army together with the jaguar skin theme, some of the armor on GG, some of the saddlery on Riders if i take them, etc etc.
Mayans and Aztecs had priests and the like. I think some form of magic defence is required.
Priests werent much for traveling, mag defense is planned for 1500, either a branchwraith with cluster or a spellcaster with scrolls. Branchwraith to be One Hunahpu, their father, or a priest of the lords of xibalba.
emphasis on the early part was the roving band. Unless you think that mag defense is needed for 1k, then ill try to shoehorn some in.
btw skar, thanks for the alter build, borrowed it from a suggestion you gave in a different thread.
At 1000pts you can probably get by against most armies so no biggie.
Can't take credit for the Alter, others had been using it before I started my WE army. But thanks anyways.
