Hey guys, i just signed up, been playing Fantasy for about 6 months now. I play Orges and im an ok player. But im thinking of starting Wood Elves, a Highborn on a Dragon army. I found it quite hard to put his strength up, it pretty impossible.
But anyway i made this list up and was wondering what your thought of it:
Highborn – / Forest Dragon –
Extra hand weapon –
Light armour –
The bow of Loren –
Enchanted shield –
Stone of the Crystal Mere –
Arcane Bodkins –
Branchwraith - level 1 –
A Cluster of Radiant –
A Murder of Spites –
Spellsinger – level 2 –
Calaingor’s Stave –
Dispel Scroll –
Dryads x 12 – 156
Dryads x 12 – 156
Glade Riders x 5 – 129
Wardancers x 9 – 176
Waywatchers x 8 – 192
Treeman – 285
Tips for improvement would really be appreciated.
Please refrain from posting individual costs for wargear and upgrades.

You might prefer a spear instead of a 2nd HW for your dragon lord. Wood Elves have many attacks but low strength. Getting that +1S on charge is worth it. (or the dawnspear like Sirk said). I like the stone of Crystal Mere for a dragon lord, saves you from canon balls and other nasty war machines!
I don't like our core archers neither but they usually make up for their points even if it doesn't appears so. Take at least a single unit (126pts for 10 glade guards w/muse)
Dryads work better on multiple small groups. 3 units of 8 is a classic. See This Topic (Dryads: Units Size) for further info. Sirk's right about the champ in Twiggy's unit (I call my branchwraith Twiggy!)
Good choice of special and rare. You'll have a lot of fun with that army list.
Branchwraith and the singer are good.
Your core is a bit lacking, a large majority of WE players agree that units of 8 dryads work the best, though anywhere from 8-12 works good aswell, you could split them in 3 units of 8 if you wanted however.
Your lack of archers is going to hurt you ALOT. These are far too good to pass up in a WE army imo, most people tend to take 2 units of 10 with no upgrades.
Only 1 unit of GR's and they are your only other fast mover other then the dragon, this isnt good and your army for a WE army is very slow. This will cause you problems with baiting and breaking rank bonuses.
The wardancer unit is probly a bit too large, 7 is the standard size most people take. The champ is ok, but not really needed.
The waywatchers are too big aswell, these cost alot per model and you'll find they dont always earn their points back. Points here could easily have been spent on some wild riders or GG/GR insted.
Treeman is fine.
Overall its an ok list, but for 2000pts the dragon is a bit much imo. It could definatly use some tweaking.
GG are definatly a solid shooting choice, and really a big backbone of WE armies as we need that missile fire to soften up ranked units to reduce their static combat res or possibly panic them.
What range are the RXBs? 24 iirc, but that could have changed.
They are more then likely still 24 inches.
They have the same BS as WE GG too i believe, so for example lets say they are 24 from their target.
A unit of 10 RXB's takes a double shot at a normal rank and file unit. So for the first shot if they didnt move it will be 4's to hit and if they do move 5's. For the second shot it will be 5's to hit if they didnt move and 6's if the did.
So for average sake lets say 5 shots hit from the first round and 3 hit from the 2nd. Against a T3 model they will be wounding on 4's. So for the average thats 4 wounds, now the armor save takes the neg hit for armor piercing so the unit may or may not get an armor save.
They can also take RXB's on Dark Riders aswell, and when you combine it with HRXBT's they pump out alot of shots. Id go so far as to say that while on average the DE shooting is a little worse, if concentrated they can decimate things easier by sheer number of shots.
Dont have the rule book since im at work, going off what was used in my battle against DE a few days ago.
Either way, point is, sheer number of shots they can pump out works just as good as our GG.
