    2000pts for Map Campaign

I'm joiing a map based campaign in my local gaming club. However I haven't actually played warhammer in ages and have little experience with woodelves (usually a LM player). I am using my wood elves to give me an incentive to paint them all !! (3 years of lying about !) I am asking for input & suggestions for my army list.

    Currently I'm thinking of :

Highborn - Wardancer Kindred, Blades of Loec (re-roll to wound), Annoyance of Netlings (6 to hit in challeges) = 255

    Spellsinger - level 2, divination orb (>3PD = +1DD) -150

    10 Gladeguard inc musician - 126

    10 Gladeguard inc musician - 126

    12 Dryads - 144

    12 Dryads - 144

    5 Glade Rider inc mus - 129

    3 Treekin - 195

    8 Wardancers inc Bladesinger & musician - 165

    Treeman - 235

    ----------------
If my calculations are correct I have 331 points left and have 2 special, 2 hero and 1 rare slot.
    4 PD // 3DD*

    * I think this may be too little but I dont know what the metagame is like now in terms of tonnes of magic. Before I would have about 6DD and 6PD with my lizardment with the option to swap 2 PD for DD or vice versa with the diadem of power..

I could take about 2 of the following units -

    3xTreekin (special)
    5 Waywatchers (rare)
Noble on Eagle - spear, helm of the hunt, hail of doom arrow ltA,shiled (hero)
    Eagle on its own (rare)
    wizard (hero)
    10 glade guard w/mus (core)
    5 glade rigers w/mus (core)

I have 3 warhawk riders but they are not fieldable at the moment unless I blitz them tongiht
I have no wild riders or eternal guard at the moment.

Welcome back and good luck in your campaign. By my calculations you have 281 points left. I will give you my suggestions for this list.

Not a common choice but he is still good.

    Spellsinger - level 2, divination orb (>3PD = +1DD) -150
Level 2 won't get a spell off for you. And rarely do you see more than 3 dice get thrown at a spell. I would drop him to level 1 and take 2 scrolls.

    10 Gladeguard inc musician - 126

    10 Gladeguard inc musician - 126

    12 Dryads - 144

    12 Dryads - 144

    5 Glade Rider inc mus - 129
    Your core is all good.

    3 Treekin - 195

    8 Wardancers inc Bladesinger & musician - 165

    Treeman - 235
    ----------------
I do think your magic defence is too low. With that in mind, here are my suggestions for your list.

Add a fourth treekin to the above unit.
    Add a great eagle.
Add another scroll caddy, level 1 wizard with two scrolls, and make you current wizard the same.
Add either the amaranthine brooch or the amber pendant to your highborn.

Do all that and I think it comes out to 1999.

    Good luck,

I'm now thinking along the lines of :

Highborn - Wardancer Kindred, Blades of Loec (re-roll to wound), Amber Pendant = 265

    Spellsinger - level 1, dispel scroll = 115

    Spellsinger - level 1, dispel scroll = 115

    10 Gladeguard inc musician - 126

    10 Gladeguard inc musician - 126

    12 Dryads - 144

    12 Dryads - 144

    5 Glade Rider inc mus - 129

    8 Wardancers inc Bladesinger & musician - 165

    3 Treekin - 195

    3 Treekin - 195

    Treeman - 235

    Total : 2004*

    PD : 2+1+1=2
    DD : 2+1+1=2 & 2 x Scrolls

    *In club so its ok

I've been advised to split the dryads into 3 x 8 instead of 2 x 12. However I worry that if they take damage then they will be vastly reduced in number. is a many small unit approach wise here?

This was posted as a question here awhile ago. And there was basically no answer. Both 8 and 12 are good unit sizes. 3 units of eight work good for screening, maneuvering, and splitting any shooting or magic coming your way. The people who like squads of 12 favour them to increase the chances of outnumbering your opponent in combat to get an autobreak.

Which you choose is more to your play style. There is no hard and fast rule or even a consensus.

Am I missing something. Treeman cost 285 not 235.
Why use science and education when ignorance and superstition will work just as well.

Appears to be just a typo. The points add up as listed.

yes it is a typo.. when adding them on my calculator I put 285... I just wrote 235 as a typo... I will try different varients of 2x12 or 3x8 when i get more games in. I will report back how the list performed

The battle went well against high elves. Treekin are very tough. Dryads can hold their own too.
