Hey I'm new to this fourm. I need help at creating a Wood elf army for 2000pts. I have a pack of Glad Gards I got last month. I would like a Wood elf Highborn on a dragon or a steed for my lord. for my heros I would like two spellsingers and a branchwraith.
For my core units I have a pack of Glade Guards like I said. I have read off this site that its good to have 10 units. I want 8 Dryads. I do not know if the Glade Riders would be a good chose or another unit of Glade Guards.
For the special units I want Warhawks because they look really cool. I want Tree kin, wardancers. and I'm not sure at the Rare units I need help at making a good strong and fast units. If anybody can help I will like it very much.
You would need to get the army book. A dragon will eat a lot of points too.
I would reccomend getting some glade riders and warhawks aswell so that you can have a mobile army that is quite fast moving.
Get the armybook please if you haven't (which is what it sounds like). Then we'll talk.
I posted a list in the wood elf army list section for you to look at.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
If you want "strong and fast" go w/ WR (wild riders). But for fast GR as core. Rare I like the Treeman. Visit the link posted by sirkently, and we can discuss more there.
Remember that i's all a matter of opinion and you have to figure out your style of play.
Okay, what kind of army do you want? Really only two kinds, Speed-Range or Hammer-and-Anvil Close Combat armies (Heavy Magic doesn't exist really).
If you want GG in the army you'll need at the very least 2 or 3 squads, likewise with Glade Riders for a Speed-Range army. Rest is personal preference really in terms of CC and Mage/Warmachine hunting.
This is a list I used recently and it held up pretty wellI would recomend:
2 units of Glade Gaurd
2 Units of Dryads
1 Unit of Glade Riders
1 Unit of wardancers
1 Unit of Wild Riders
1 Unit of Waywatchers
For characters, I recomend a treeman ancient, scroll caddy and an alter kin w/ hail of doom arrow and helm of the hunt. The final slot is room to play with. I would use a wild-rider noble w/ spear of twilight, or a branchwraith w/lvl 1 caster and a cluster of radiants.
The key to the army is that it is very manoverable, but has alot of punch if you can pick your targets carefully.
I have found that treekin aren't manoverable enough to bring. Warhawk riders are expensive, and are too vulnerable to be worth taking, but I have heard other people swear by them.
Ok I worked on a list this morning I need help on it.
the bow of loren Railarian's Manrle
Wood Elf Noble
Glamourweave kindred may ride a Unicorn
spites wizard level 1
2 units of gladw Gaurds with one musician 10
2 units of Dyads 8
Glade Riders with a musican
Treekin 3 or 4
that equials 1,921 if I have 4 Treekin if I have 3 its 1,856
I can get a great eagles or dogs of war for rare units.
