Hello! I would like your thoughts on this.
So far I've been buying models based on what I've wanted to paint. Having a few regiments under my belt, however, I feel it's time to consider buying based on what I need to field an army. Being rather new to wood elves and the whole wargames thing, I pose this question to you, Esteemed Reader:
What do you think I should invest in next, to balance the army, fleshing it out or to add some crucial element?
So far I have:
16 glade guard
12 dryads (+ 10 dryads yet to be finished, watch this (Whodunnit's Wood Elf Bonanza!) space if you're interested)
5 glade riders + 1 spellsinger should also be arriving in the mail soon.
At this point, I'm willing to consider taking this army in any direction. If you see a way to make this shooty, combat-heavy or whatever, don't hesitate to post.
I would get some more glade guard. You want to have 2 units of 10 optimally. You will have a bunch of extras if you get the box of 16. You could either do up another unit of 10, or make some scouts and/or waywatchers out of them.
I would also recommend picking up an eagle to move further along the collecting road.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
Hmm, I've got bad experiences with glade guard ( the ones I've got looks like crap!) but perhaps I'll do better this time.
Eagle sounds fun! Would also be fun to put some time into a single model paint-wise.
Thanks for the input.
If you can pick up 2 more dryads that would be ideal ... not sure how you ended up with 22 of them! Getting up to 24 would give you 3 units of 8.
I also agree with sirkently about the glade guard. You'll want to have 20-30 available to field.
Beyond that, I'd suggest getting a unit or two of wild riders. They are expensive though, so if you want to save money you can try your hand at converting glade riders.
Hehe, as soon as they're done I'll post them in the project log and all will be revealed
I don't really like wild riders. Neither the models nor the fluff but, yeah, I might do some conversion of some kind to use as wild riders. That's a bit down the line, I think. I'll just have to focus on getting 2 more dryads and do up another glade guard regiment (it's just so many frickin' models
