Welcome to Librarium Online!
Just started to collect Wood Elves, after alot of thought this is my 1000pts starting list. I intend to grow it to 2000pts eventually. Feedback and any suggestions to improve it valued!
Wood Elf Noble of the Wardancer Kindred
The Fimbulwinter Shard, A Murder of Spites
Level 2 Wizard, Ranu's Heartstone, Powerstone
Dryads - 9
(Willing to swap these for 10 Glade Guard)
Dryads - 8
Eternal Guard - 21
(Run in 3 ranks of 7 for large number of attacks)
Wardancer Troupe - 8
Champion and Musician
ARMY TOTAL: 1000pts
I have yet to purchase anything so I am not commited to the above list!
First things first. Eternal guard are really not that great a unit for wood elves. They go against the natural grain of the army, which is more about movement than block troops. Also, you don't have a character to put in the unit to make them stubborn.
Wardancer kindreds are fluffy, but not at the top of the heap for competitive lists. They are nice for freindly games and local clubs tough.
Wood elves generally don't upgrade wizards to second level as our magic isn't that effective.
Welcome to the forest,
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
The plan was for the Eternal Guard was that they gave my opponent something 'solid' to aim for. They aren't going to waste time chasing things they can't catch so with knowledge they should head for the Eternal Guard I can create traps round them. I also love the models. Same for the Wardancers, the dances make them flexible and the Noble in the unit should help them hit harder. He/She is pretty good for challenges as well.
With regards to the magic I may be one of the few people that like the Lore of Athel Loren. You can see I equipped the Spellsinger in case I get the higher level (and harder to cast spells).
Should I swap out the unit of 9 Dryads and Branch Nymph for 10 Glade Guard?
This is a very soft list, but since you say it's for friendly games that's probably fine =)
