Welcome to Librarium Online!
I played my first game of 8th yesterday and i thought under the new ruels this would be quite a strong list wot do you think?
Tree man ancient
cluster or radiants
Annoyance of nettlings
Spellweaver lvl 4
Wand of wych elm
Stone of crystall mere
Glade guard x40 std muso (10 wide)
Dryads x 11
Dryads x 11
Wild riders x 5 fc
Wardancers x 10
Wardancers x 10
Tree kin x 4
ok so the new army composition rules are
has to be at leats 3 units in the army
no min for core units only that its 25% of points
there our others about only 3 same specials
and only 2 same rare which increases and decreases with the points of the games.
some rules that will help you under stand my list are:
archers can fire 2 ranks and can do something called a volley which means the front 2 ranks fire and for ranks 3,4 etc they fire half of the moddles rounded up so that means i can fire 30 shots a time with a rank bouns for when they get charged (if any are left from stand and shoot) also they will most likly be fighting first with I 5 and will count as a horde so 2 ranks can fight and half of the subsequent ranks can to. which will not make them useless in combat now (i hope)
the spellweaver taking lore of life its awesome now i can make the tree man ancient toughness 10
cannon ball wounding on a 4+ lol
and any spell i get off in the lore of life any charecter with in 12" get a wound back includeing the wizard
tree man and the ancients get d6 str 6 attacks at the end of combat plus thier normal ones so could have 11 str 6 attacks sweet
tree kin will get 1 each at str 5 after combat
also skimishers are stubborn in woods and all units loose there rank bonus in woods to.
and an standard alter noble which will hopefully still be effective of taking out enemy wizzards but wil most likely get killed in return put if the points swap is ok ill go for it.
also fast cav can do a move of 12" after ever thing is deployed but before the first turn.
So wot do you think and comments would be apperciated
First thing I would worry about is if the ancient still counts as a rare. If so, you will be over the point allowance.
With that many archers in one unit, I would definitely take the banner that lets you stand and shoot even if charged within the chargers basic movement.
Theorizing about the best way to make a list, I might think of making one bigger wardancer unit, and upping the quantity of the dryads.
Just some quick thoughts,
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
oh yeah the ancient taking up a rare slot didnt cross my mind ill have to wait till the faq to find out of i can do that.
and the banner would be good on the archers
after playing the list to day the dryads need to be a lot bigger units or not at all they are not to effective only at holding up flank attacks.
and wardancers need to go in to charges with another unit or tree man or not at all they get butcherd now. with lots of attacks fighting back but tree man and tree man ancients are realy nasty now two tree man and a unit or 4 tree kin were up againts 20 odd black orcs there was tree man in front and flank with 2 tree kin being able to fight in the front the orcs went first and got no wounds then the tree man and tree kin killed all but 5 or them lol with the stomp and thunder stomp attacks now they are awesome.
With that list you will lose very quickly in one of the 6 scenarios, the one where you have to keep 2 standards and the general alive. Your opponent will focus all of their firepower on the Wild Riders, and once they go down you lose. They could all go down on the first turn.
And with great weapons going last always, you might want to switch the great weapon to an additional hand weapon on your Alter. 6 S4 Attacks at I9 should be enough to take down a caster or a few rank and file guys with him.
