3005pts - This whole Army marches forward, and the Glade Guard 'free reform' when they are close to get their ranks. There should be enough trees and enough arrows to stop anyone charging the Glade Guard, So their 5+ Ward should keep them stable, whilst the Mage heals.
60 Glade Guard, Musician, Std. + Magic Banner (the stand and shoot one)
1 Spellweaver lv3 (Rhymers Harp)
[this guy gors in with 60 glade guard, giving them all 5+Ward Save]
1 Wildrider Noble + Stag + Stone of Hidden Ways + Dragon Helm
[this guy goes in a uni of Treekin]
I cant wait to try this out! What do you think?
- Wood Elves + Orcs & Goblins since 2009 -
gorgeousAnymore I only use glade guard and treekin and treemen.and considering the randomness of wizardry I reverted back to my old roots of wood elves which revolves around my central tactic of SMASH IT WITH A TREEMAN. So I dont even use wizards, just treeman ancientsmany kudos for the list
Only one unit of archers means only one target every round. Also, terrain could realy hurt that unit maneuverability, especialy if there are things that would block line of sight. If your opponent don't expect it in the terrain placing it might work, otherwise it probably won't work. Imagine what will happen if that unit will fail a panic test. Daemons with siren song could make that unit flee or charge, fast terror causers will try to charge even from great distances, ogres have a spell that make you take a panic test that goes realy well with that item that give your opponent -1 to leadership, stone throwers may kill enough elves even if they scatter (and on 3000 goblins can bring 6 roc lobbers) so your opponent could make you take panic tests. Don't forget that there are spells that effect entire units, such as dwellers from below (lore of life), flames of the pheonix (high lore), wither (lore of the plague), soul stealer (lore of dark magic), curse of years (lore of the vampires).
I realy liked the idea of many trees, perhaps you should upgrade one of your treemen to a treeman ancient with a spite or two.
Yeah I think 60 archers in the same unit is abit risky to, but try it out if u want =)
Also u shouldnt be able to have the dragon helm on the noble as discussed in other thread...
In a so fighty army and with so many archers in the same unit I would go with a bsb.
Otherwise the army is looking good in my inexperienced eyes =)
I would make the spellweaver level 4, and drop your noble for a bsb noble with some kind of magic armor.
As for tactics I would just always leave the unit of archers at 31 wide, and 2 deep. (assuming both characters will be here if you go bsb) As almost nothing will survive your stand and shoot and if they do you will still get a decent number of attacks, have one rank and banner + bsb.
I mean even chaos warriors with a shield are still gonna lose like 7-8 guys from your stand and shoot alone.
- You must set fire to water or you will be extinguished.
The problem with stand and shoot is that you can only do it against one unit a turn. With a unit that wide, you will be charged by several units. Or if your treekin are in the way, none, but then your shooting lines are problematic. Just seems hard to pull off to me. But try it out.
As for the other units, I would rather have two units of 8 treekin. And I agree that a BSB is really handy to have with the treekin and treemen. I would rather have a highborn with the harp and a level 2 wizard with a scroll personally.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
