That would depend on the army as to how cheaply they can field great weapons. But my concern are the canons that can be fielded at 1500 points. I suppose I should play a few 1500 point games using a Treeman to see how it works out for me.

I could swap the 5 scouts back to:

    - 1 Great Eagle
    - 2 more GG
    - banner of eternal flame on my BSB

and still stay within the points limit

I know that 22 GG is still pretty low number - but the way I see it I don't like the idea of either cutting away my Block of Dryads, Treekin or Treeman to favor a couple more archers .

And do you agree with the idea of keeping my lvl 4 LifeWeaver with my current army setup, that favors forest spirits a bit more than Elves.

Level 4 lifeweaver good. Level 3 with the stone of rebirth better.

5 Scouts bad. Eagle good. Some protection on the BSB better.

Dryads iffy. More glade guard good.

I must have been extremely tired when I made that silly post. Anyway, I believe a Treeman can outrun or outflank most non-cavalry great weapon models; it can't do the same against cannonballs without bad dice rolls by the opposing player.

From what I gather, In your first post in this thread you stated that you understand and accept the challenge of playing a Wood Elf army in contrast to your Warriors of Chaos army. You also understand the challenge of using a block of Dryads over additional Glade Guard. Either way, it is still a challenge compared to playing Chaos Warriors.
You stated that you really like the Dryad models. So in this particular case, go ahead and use the Dryads. I think it is more fun playing with the models one prefers.
To recap, is this the army list that you have decided on?
Spellweaver, Stone of Rebirth, lvl 3 Lore of life
Heroes: Noble, BSB, banner of eternal flame
Core: 12 GG, musician (BSB bunker)
Core: 10 GG, musician (Spellweaver bunker)
    Core: 12 Dryads
    Special: 6 Treekin
    Rare: Treeman
    1 Great Eagle

You're absolutely right, Sidewinder, that is how I would field my list based on the advice you guys have given me With one exception and that is to keep my spellweaver as level 4 and drop the stone of rebirth (I got the points for this).

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this is how I understand the Wood elf army: The characters of this army are NOT supposed to be ever engaged in close combat and hence do not need any combat gear to survive (if they are engaged in melee they're as good as dead anyways) so I don't understand the purpose of having a stone of rebirth, protection on bsb, talisman og preservation, etc. on any of the characters ... (they are guarded from shooting and magic through a Glade guard bunker that stands behind my lines and can make look out sir rolls on a roll of 2+) - the only obvious solution I can see is if I fail my look out sir roll to some lucky cannon ball (and that's just tough luck) or if I get taken out by some overpowered spell. This is the reason I want a higher magic level so I can control the magic phase more easily. (in bigger point games I would like wand of wych elm to control the magic phase even further and add more Glade guard to the bunkers).

Sounds about right. The Stone of Rebirth won't save you if you have an angry enemy Hero breathing down your neck anyway, though a Ward save is useful against sniper spells. Still, I'd rather have a L4 Wizard with a Divination Orb and be more likely to dispel that spell in the first place.
