Hi, recently i've been thinking of doing fantasy and want to play wood elves, i think they look awesome. But i only know the basic rules sort of and obviously new to the army. Trying to come up with a good but fun list. My opponents are going to be orcs and goblins, ogres, and warriors of chaos mainly. So as far as i know these are really tough and good armies, especially compared to wood elves.
So here it is:
Spellweaver lv3 - lore of beast
Talisman of protection
Spear of twilight (Killing blow)
Potion of strength
5 Glade riders
5 Glade riders
5 Glade riders
5 Wild Riders
Comes to 1001pts.
Took lore of beasts coz it seems to have useful spells and good ones. Especially the one to do with open ground is dangerous terrain for enemy and die on 1 or 2. Idea of the army is mess around with my opponent not let them catch and make well timed charges with wild riders, noble and eagle. A bit unsure about the weapons i gave to the noble though.
But please comments and criticism welcome, and i could really do with advice.
Thanks much appreciated.
From the games that I have played, and most of the threads that are about, this edition is about lots of trees and Glade Guard! It's not the most fun way to play, but as far as I know, about the only competitive way for us:-(. The idea being to pepper your enemy with the best archers in the game then smack him in CC after you've softened him up sufficiently. Even with WE infantry you can still run away from them because of our high movement!
I used glade riders in my first few games but they got put back on the shelf pretty fast as they didn't do well at all.
I have to say that against your list of armies that you will be playing, your list won't be fun, and not really good. Sorry about that.
The spell weaver is fine. But then you need to back him up with glade guard and dryads/treekin. The eagles are always a good addition though. Alter kindred can stay on the shelf, as there is very little way to protect them.
I would reconsider you list.
Welcome to the forest,
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
thanks guys but another friend decided to do wood elves as hes got models so i decided to do my other favourite which are the skaven. but thanks much appreciated.
wood elves in a battle lower than 1500 pts is not competitive, since a lvl 3 or 4 wizard is too expensive and a lvl 1 or 2 only can choose the lore of athel loren
cavalry is alwys a bad choice, since they are too expensive and they just dont do damage.
instead run treekin, dryads and glade guard. eagles are fine.
but its true that GW ****ed the playstyle of the woodelves in the new edition I started another army, since i never won with wood elves anymore
