Hey guys, along with my revemped wood elf force, I an putting together a Spirit army to hopefully see some tournament play, and also a mainly wardancer themed army, but that's for latter, here the list:

    Lords & Heroes

    Treeman Ancient 350 pts
    Annoyance Of Netlings

    Branchwraith 165 pts
    Lv 1 Caster
    Blight Of Terrors

    Branchwraith 140 pts
    Lv1 Caster
    Cluster Of Radiants

    Core

    9 Dryads 108 pts

    9 Dryads 108 pts

    9 Dryads 108 pts

    9 Dryads 108 pts

    9 Dryads 108 pts

    Special

    4 Treekin 260 pts

A bit plain? maybe run a second treeman as a rare choice?

Yeah, the list seems a bit limiting. Another treeman would scare the bejesus out of your enemy, but why not wild riders? That would add some speed to the list.

I'd take something other than the annoyance of netlings on the treeman. I mean, who's going to accept a challenge from that thing? They'll throw the unit champion out there to take the beating. Besides, the treeman is so tough and has so many wounds. How about the murder spite? D6 poisoned attacks in addition to his own six attacks? That could be nasty. And the lamentation of despairs could be a real game turner if you use it at the right moment.

The best way to take an Ancient is with Murder of Spites AND Annoyance of Netlings. This way, you'll slaughter most everything in a challenge (Blood Dragons HAVE to challenge. Nice, if a bit bloody breakfast for your tree), and if they refuse, slaughter their rank and file (6 St6 + D6 St2 poisoned attacks).

In short, you'll do horrendous damage either way.
Use Light, Beasts, Metal instead of Heavens
NecroLords: Use at least one Death Mage
    Brets: Use Peasants&Damsels
    Skaven: Don't use Skryre SAD

Wasn't too sure if wild riders where '' spirits '' or simply mount wardancers, but I guess they could improve the list.

As for the murder/Netlings combo I thought of it, but wouldn't he become a tad overpriced?

    How about this:

    Lords & Heroes

    Treeman Ancient 375 pts
    Annoyance Of Netlings
    Murder Of Spites

    Branchwraith 115 pts
    Blight Of Terrors

    Branchwraith 140 pts
    Lv1 Caster
    Cluster Of Radiants

Yes, wild riders are forest spirits, and they have all kinds of cool rules. They cause fear on the charge until the start of the next turn (but don't forget a musician to get the effect!). They gain an attack on turns following the charge. They have the forest spirt ward save of 5+ and a talismanic tatoo save of 6+ (like having a demonic ward save and thena true ward save).

So now you have an entire army of terror/fear causing models that is immune to psych, and having played undead as my first army, that's pretty cool.

It's a really interesting list and I'd be curious to see how it played.

I'll be getting the treekin and wild riders as soon as they come out.

The only thing that bugs me is that the only way I have to deal with fanatics is the root attack, and I find it would be wasted a bit on gobos?

Thanks for the feedback guys I'll be playing a proxied game this weekend, I'll post up the result and possible improvements here.

You can take the spites which give you missile attacks, or tree sing terrain into fanatics. I'm with you on the treekin and treeman models, heck on all the models. I'll snatch them up as my paycheck allows.

Yeah, and the up siade is the treekin will be $20 CA as to other Ogre size guys are $22-$25 CA a big different on the long run.

Would you think a noble or highborn with the wild rider kindred could be acceptable with the theme?

Yeah, I had that thought but it frittered away and never got typed. I think a lord or noble with the wild rider kindred would be fine. Putting one on a great stag would be cool. (Are they releasing models for that? I'm guessing it's like a demonic steed, big son of a gun). If you want to go with only forest creatures, then no. If forest spirits, then yes. WR would give you the chance of a rank, a fast cavalry unit, and a bit more strategical ability. But I see how it would break up the "look" of the army.

I guess it he could replace the treeman and a Branchwraith, get a rare treeman instead.

    How about this:

    Highborn 278 pts
    Wild Rider Kindred
    Elven Steed
    Annoyance of Netlings
    Spear Of Twilight
    Echanted Shield

A bit too pricy I find or simply a noble?
