Hi, I just started Wood Elves and in my excitement, I've already cranked out a couple of army lists to get myself started. However, I am in doubt as to whether these armies won't just land me in the dump. Many of these are just ideas that I have gotten from threads in the forum.
Eternal Guard - 514 pts
Highborn [General] - Eternal Kindred, The Rhymer's Harp, The Horn of the Asrai
17 Eternal Guard - Eternal, Musician, Standard Bearer, War Banner
Noble - 158 pts
Noble - Alter Kindred, Great Weapon, Light Armour, Shield, The Helm of the Hunt, Stone of the Crystal Mere
Wardancer Troupe - 187 pts
Noble - Hand Weapon, Blades of Loec
7 Wardancers - Bladesinger, Musician
Spellsinger - 140 pts
Spellsinger - Hand Weapon, Longbow, Two Dispel Scrolls
Four units of Glade Guard - 504 pts
10 Glade Guard - Lord's Bowman
Two units of Glade Guard Scouts - 182 pts
5 Glade Guard Scouts - Lord's Bowman
Two units of Glade Riders - 212 pts
5 Glade Riders - Horsemaster, Standard Bearer
Warhawk Riders - 220 pts
5 Warhawk Riders - Wind Rider
Waywatchers - 128 pts
5 Waywatchers - Shadow Sentinel
Great Eagle - 50 pts
1 Great Eagle
Having just received the Wood Elf Army Book, I wouldn't be surprised if you find any errors. Thanks.
The army list totals 495 pts.

I would drop a few unit champions if I were you, this represents nearly 200 pts, wich is effectively another unit to your army. Especially the ones wich ony get a BS augmentation.
I don't think there is any use of a 5 man warhawk rider unit, they are getting big and clumsy to fit in tighter spots, 3 should work out great as they have ogre size bases.
On fast cavalry units, wich should see too much combat, go for the musician before the standard, it will save your bacon when it's time to rally.
Thanks for that.
But I still have a few questions. Does that mean I should get rid of Lord's Bowmen and the Shadow Sentinel? Is the Wind Rider worth taking (it costs 1.5 times of a normal Warhawk Rider)?
I usually go against all unit champions, unless they bring something useful like an extra point of leadership, and ability or better Weapon Skill or Strength.
I think that another 2 Eternal Guard could make a big difference, a lot more ranks.
I also think that getting rid of all the champions would be a very good idea, apart from the useful ones like EG champions. I think that the Wind Rider is a huge waste, half their points again for +1 attack?!?
The Great Eagle should be useful to disrupt flanks and block charges. A small unit of Warhawk Riders should be able to cope with any archers.
