Got a game coming up against dwarves and need some tactical help on how to win. I have never played against dwarves and I don't feel like showing up blind. Any suggestions would be great.
It would be helpful if we knew what your wood elf army list looked like.
Otherwise, in general here are the dwarven advantages and disadvantages:
Very tough with good armour.
Great shooting potential-has access to a great number of war machines.
Hard hitting in close combat.
Very slow meaning they'll hardly ever get the charge unless they manoevre well.
Virtually no magic at all but can still dispel.
A billion chinese can't be wrong - eat rice.
Just to be difficult, I wanted to warn you about two of the disadvantages. They're fairly particular, but I thougt I'd add a little extra information.
There is an Altar/Anvil unit that allows a Dwarf army to cast one "spell" a turn during the shooting phase. Unless I've been misinformed, these can't be countered.
Dwarves do not have cavalry. However, he may take an allied contingent of Kislev which has plenty of cavalry. Dwarven Lords can also take shield bearers which... do... something or another. I don't have the new codex yet (next week) so I don't know the exact rules.
