**Potential army list posted at bottom of page**
This is just a preliminary discussion for my 2250 list. I just want to feel for some ideas now. I really like the idea of putting together an all asrai list (For me, I consider wild riders to be ok along with great eagles and forest dragon mounts). This summer, when i went to a GW to buy my first elves, the employee flat out told me that an all elf WE army wouldn't work. I know it may be harder to play, but what do y'all think about it? Can an all asrai list be competitive?
I was thinking along the lines of 2-3 units of eternal guard, 1-2 units of wardancers, 2-3 units of glade guard, a unit of scouts, a unit of wild riders (maybe a unit of glade riders too), a great eagle or two, and maybe throw in a unit of 8 dryads just to have a cool army fluff twist.
for characters, I was thinking a highborn, noble BSB, level 2 spellsinger (i really like the regeneration spell...), and either one more spellsinger or maybe a wardancer noble...not sure which. It seems that one level 2 wizard is pretty much pointless in this size of game, but I can't make her a lord level because then i would loose the highborn and my eternal guard would become special units. scroll caddie might be the best option, but ariel's blessing does wonders for my eternal guard. Most of the games i've played my enemy has had great magic defence (1000pts with 5 dispell dice for Khrone beast of chaos, 2000pts wood elves who had a level 4 and a mercenary level 4 wizard...he said it was legal)
some more questions: are great eagles a good investment? or do they need a rider to be really fully exploited? is a unit of eternal guard loose most of its value it you do not have a noble/highborn in it? (can you give multiple characters the same magic item? aka two nobles both having AoN?? b/c it seems like you should be able to do that)
thanks in advance guys! :w00t:

This is a good article to start off with. I believe that an all elf army is quite powerful, you just have to be ready for some tough challenges. I suggest 2-3 level 2 wizards for this army, with a noble BSB, because you will NEED to use the trees for your advantage. I also suggest that you dont "count" Wildriders as forest spirits, because they look plenty elfish to me. This army will need to have lots of Eternal guard, because they are a good backbone to build up or army around. Dont EVER use the Eternal kindred, for it is only a waste of points. What you have is a good start, just post a list, because it makes it easier to refine.
"This sure ain't no pansy Eldar Armor, Son"
185th Cadian Armored Div.
"One Shot, One Kill"
Western Border Patrol of Athel Loren
I have read that article actually, it is pretty cool. and as I mentioned in my first post, I am counting wild riders as elves (along with great eagles and forest dragons being ok) I was intending this thread to either eventually evolve into my specific list after I heard some suggestions, but I'll post one of my rough draft lists tonight or asap! Well if i need at least 2 spellsingers...then after that I need one highborn and one BSB, I need those for my eternal guard. I'll look over my stuff and post that list asap.
To anyone else, ideas etc are welcome!!!!!
Ok so I have put together some of my rough lists into this rough list . Tell me what yall think and help wanted lol!
Highborn: Rhymer's Harp, lt armour, shield, sword of might
Noble: BSB, AoN, sword of might, lt armour
Spellsinger: level 2, Calaingor's Stave
Spellsinger: level 2, Dispell Scroll, Dispell scroll
20 Eternal Guard full command, war banner
20 Eternal Guard full command
10 Glade Guard +M
10 Glade Guard +M
10 Glade Guard +M
5 Glade Riders +M
7 Wardancers +M
7 Wardancers +M
5 Wild Riders (Automatically get musician)
Total: 2193 (57 still to be spent)
All of this is open to changes (except of course the theme). I'm thinking that a unit of scouts would be very benificial to add here and I need to change up the items for my characters, that is just a rough possibility. Also, putting champs in the wardancers and wild riders, yay or nay?
Thanks in advance for all y'all's help!!! :w00t:
P.S. -- also, I don't think this could fit but maybe adding a highborn on a dragon? This is mainly just because the dragons are really cool. may be way too many points and require changing lots of the set up.

In my army I use a unit of 5 scouts with the banner that lets them march block at 12". Not only are they shooting str 4 arrows but are also march blocking some of the opponents most valuable units. Another unit I think is invaluable is a unit of 5-7 waywatchers. Their rules make them awesome at picking out small units of heavy cav. For wild riders, use the Banner of Dwindling, and make sure they have that punch to win combat.
One more quite usefull hero is a-
lvl 1 Caster
A Cluster of Radiants (or w/e the +1 dispell dice one is)
this is great for the extra 2 DD.
Oops! My fault. I must of not been thinking when I posted that. Still, it is a good suggestion.
Since this thread has become more of a standard army list/feedback thread instead of my title of "brainstorming" I am moving the actual list over to a new thread to try and reduce confusion etc. hopefully this isn't confusing in its self.
