Alright, this is going to be a long post, so bear with me. I will try to address all concerns you might have, but of course, if you have any I dont cover here, feel free to ask
Highborn + Forest Dragon, Bow of Loren, Arcane Bodkins, Stone of the Crystal Mere, Light Armour, Enchanted Shield, Great Weapon
Noble + BSB, Royal Banner of Ariel
Spellsinger + 2 Dispel Scrolls
24 Eternal Guard + Full Command, Warbanner
3 Treekin + Elder
Basically, I run the EG in the center with the Noble and Singer attatched. I put a treeman on either flank, and a unit of dryads on either flank of the treemen, with the treekin directly in front of the EG. Makes a little castle. Of course, the Highborn will be flying around shooting stuff and hopefully get behind enemy lines to make the enemy flee into my castle. Or vice-versa. Plus with this set up, the chances of my EG getting flanked is very low. AND everything except the general is re-rolling break tests AND has magic resistence of 1. Not to mention the EG have static combat res of 7. And cause fear. I think that just about covers it.
Now I know what youre gonna say:
1) This is chessy as hell
2) You have no HoDA
3) This list sucks
4) The list has very few models
1) I know. Everything in the army causes either fear or terror. Three huge creatures. Trust me, I know. But this is meant to be a competitive, unbalanced list. I would never take this list down to my local club on game night. This is meant strictly for ultra-competitive tournaments or with friends who wish to run tourney armies as well.
2) I know couldnt find a spot for it.
3) I would say its different. Ive seen none like it and I think that, like any other list, can do well against certain armies and poorly against others.
4) I agree. Its a natural weakness of the army. So instead of trying to strengthen that weakness by maxing out models, Ive tried to strengthen some more elite units, thereby strengthening a strength.
So yeah, lets hear it fellas.
It's a well thought-out army if nothing else . As you rightly guessed, I'm going to say that it's cheesy as hell, but I think that's funny. Sometimes you need a bit of cheese. Imagine the look on your opponent's face when you deploy that; chances are they'll brick themselves.
In fairness, though, it's a one-trick pony. I'm sure clever players will find ways to crack it. I can think of a couple of ways; magic heavy armies will easily penetrate your magic defence, and you're vulnerable to the likes of Comet of Casandora, Wall of Fire or Pit of Shades. Vampire Counts will also give you some trouble, and tie up units with hundreds of expendable zombies. Massed firepower from war machines will also split you wide open; I'd say you're vulnerable to cannons and stone throwers in particular. Well-aimed fanatics will cause you problems. As for the dragon, well I've used a Highborn on dragon several times, and what usually happens is he gets shot off the top of his mount pretty quickly.
Yes, it's a little fortress of terror/fear causing troops, that will almost never run away, but against strong magic or horde armies, chances are you'll lose. You can't win a war of attrition, and still have to take break tests.
Good idea though. Hope you don't mind me ripping it apart .
It has yet to be proven that intelligence has any survival value. - Arthur C. Clarke (1917 - 2008)
I completely agree with you. Warmachines will eat me for lunch, but hey, when do they not? And like I already said, I know that this list will be amazing against certain armies and get ripped to shreds against others, but its a chance Im willing to take . Anywho, thanks for the input.
Im gonna give it a go today against some high elves or skaven or dwarves. If you try it be sure to tell me how it goes.
It looks like it would be fun to play.
The EG unit will be strong. You might use your eternal champ to challenge enemy characters, or even champs, in order to preserve the BSB.
Have you already figured out how you will use your units in tandem? I find keeping two treemen together to be absolutely devastating to enemy units. Of course, a cannon could rune your day, but that's just a risk you take.
And of course, a dragon can deal with any poorly deployed war machines.
Another option, cheaper and not as uber-cheesy cool, is a terror-causing highborn on an eagle.
And I plan on using all these guys to assist each other in combat. If something charges a Treeman, flank with Treekin. If something charges the Treekin, flank with both Treemen. If something gets past the Treekin, then the EG will hit it head on with Treemen hitting the flanks. If something hits the dryads, then either a) it will break them and the enemy will over-run into a Treeman, where they will either die or be held up b) the dryads will win and destroy the enemy unit or c) the battle will be a draw or someone will pass a break test or something and the dragon will hit the flank of the enemy unit, almost ensuring a win.
I think it might work. Ive discussed it with a few friends and we all agree it looks great on paper, but we'll see.
And as for the Highborn on the eagle, yes, it is a much smarter way to go, but Im on the road to cheese and not looking back.
Sounds like you have it sorted.
But I would love to play against that list. Despite all the terror causing your only fast unit is the dragon highborn. The other stuff will take a while to get across the table. A shooty army will tear it to peices IMHO.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
i think the list looks awsome, and think that i may have to try it out some day...once i get a bloody dragon. It sounds like you have your tactics down pat and the weaknesses your well aware of(warmachines, magic heavy)
If you played against dwarfs id be intrested in how the list faired. Only beat those guys once.
you have another weakness m8, which are armies based on monsters and uber Lords sometimes also magic heavy, like Tzeench with Dragon, Slaanesh, Khorne deamons and brettonia if their Lord is on a pegasus...
Also any SAD skaven army will rip you to pieces since their weapons are all magickal and warplightning is awesome. if your oponent has a sreaming bell youre looking and a skaven army with 9 ld which will reduce your terror efects.
