I am getting ready for the upcoming summer campaign, I'd like to get down and finish up a 1000pts first before moving on for bigger games. This is the list I have written out, but not exactly having all the models here, it's also why I would like to hear some opinions before I actually toss money out for them.
General; Magic Level 2; Lore of Athel Loren; Longbow
I plan on using the Power Stone and Ranu Stone together like combo to cast a spell that I really need at any given time, Wild Hunt would be perfect spell for my WildRiders but I can't rely on getting that spell every game.
Magic Level 1; Lore of Athel Loren; Longbow
10 Glade Guard
10 Glade Guard
10 Wild Riders
Spear; Light Armour; Standard; Musician; Champion
10 Elf Steed
This is my hammer unit. They should be deploy in or near a patch of woods, so they can be moved with Treesinging and until ready they will stay inside.
Casting Pool: 5
Dispel Pool: 4
Models in Army: 38
Total Army Cost: 990
I am trying to start small here in blocks of 500pts, and eventually build up to a 2000 army. This list is actually almost half of what my 2,000pt list would look like, except it will be 2 blocks of 8 Wild Riders each, 2 units of 8 Waywatchers, and 40 glade guards, backed up with a Lord with Loren bow and a alter hero with g.wpn and HoDA.
Any comments? thanks!
Anima Tactics - try it out!
this list is ok. i assume you want to dominate the magic phase as much as possible with this list. remember however, your wild riders are both your hammer unit, and your only unit that can take care of heavy problems. i would add a noble with wild rider kindred and add some stuff to him.
Don't forget too, even at 2000pts, 40 GG is going to take up a lot of your deployment space, its going to be hard to find room for them all so that they are all within range.
Legion Of Everblight: Abyslonia
Protectorate of Menoth: Grand Exemplar Kreoss
i would have to say that a unit of 10 wild riders is too much. you don't get rank bonus bc they are fast cav and it makes them less manuverable and more expensive. Also, these guys are really fast aka cav so having them be treesung across the table probably isn't really the best use of resources. they can probably run to cover in turn 1. seems like good strong magic though.
about the 2000pts etc. having two units of waywatchers 8 in each is very exensive. they can be a great unit and go ahead and take them -people either love or hate them - but keep in mind that you may not have space to place 2 units of scouts, especially if your opponent has scouts taking up those great places too. you could make one of these units just scouts...with the banner of zenith they provide 12" march block, and then you can have waywatchers go after heavy stuff.
