Its time for me to play a more forest spirit oriented army.
CoR, AoN, MoS
SotCM, Sword of Might
5 SB, WarBanner
The idea will be to run the ancient into my free forest with the BSB (who is with the wardancers) coming up behind. The ancient will cause terror checks and such and get stuck in combat so that I can set up flank charges.
Another mage is an option but then I'd have to drop a unit. It would be nice to benefit from the treesinging more but I don't think it would be worth it. With that build I could give the 2nd mage the HoDA. Of course I could give the BSB the HoDA too (with A but I'm not sure it would be worth the fragility.
I could drop the wild riders for some glade riders and a great eagle. As the only unit with a regular banner I think they could provide some much needed CR.
I don't think adding another spellsinger is worth it unless you plan on upgrading both to level 2s. I would say add a M to the wardancers. I like your Wild Riders. Adding a Great Eagle would help on adding some extra flexability.
Also, HoD on a spellsinger doesn't seem to really be worth it. It can be much better on a noble because of higher BS.
The Noble isn't worth it just to carry a HoDA.Also, HoD on a spellsinger doesn't seem to really be worth it. It can be much better on a noble because of higher BS.
So if you had a mage and had the choice of HoDA or not...well 3d6 arrows hitting on 3+ is still a great deal.
A mage can be a much more cost effective carrier for the HoDA in a magic heavy army.
If I took 2 mages they would definately be upgraded but I don't think its worthwhile.
I should probably change the GG to 14 M / 10 then I could probably afford the wardancer musician.
I could drop 4 GG for the eagle though I'll have to playtest that. I think I need the firepower.
I'm not all that familiar with wood elves, especially their magic items and upgrades. I keep reading your post and wondering how your Treeman Ancient got the Mark of Slaanesh (MoS).
Maybe add a branchwraith? Do they contribute a little bit of treesinging? And a little extra CC oomph to your dryads?
I'd be very tempted to drop the wild riders for glade riders and an eagle. The list is lacking in speed as it is, and wild riders aren't really optimal for march-blocking and charge-baiting, they should be in CC tearing things up! You've got enough hard-hitters in the list as it is, IMO.
Hope it helps!
Arena of Death Champion: Nexim of the Guldskullz Tribe. Fear my wrath!
Obviously that isn't in question. Hitting on 1+ instead of 3+. However, in a list that would benefit from more magic power the mage is much more worthwhile. In such a list when you can't afford nobles b/c you're going for magic power the HoDA is highly worthwhile.True, but he is a better carrier of the HoDA.
The HoDA is extremely overpriced if you take a noble just to carry it. Sure you get an extra couple hits and have a better choice of targets but you're also paying an extra 75 pts for that ability.I'm not sure I need the speed. However the main use of the GG would be to take down warmachine crews and the eagle is perfect for that so I will probably switch some for the eagle.I think that the difference between 4 GG and a Great Eagle I would go with the Great Eagle personally just because it will give you some extra speed now that skirmishers get march blocked in 7th.(:I keep reading your post and wondering how your Treeman Ancient got the Mark of Slaanesh (MoS).
Thats murder of spites. An extra d6 S2 poison attacks in CC. It will hopefully add a point of CR.A dryad champion is as good in combat as a branchwraith at 1/3 of the points. The mage upgrade is expensive, might as well take a level 2 mage at that point.Maybe add a branchwraith? Do they contribute a little bit of treesinging? And a little extra CC oomph to your dryads?I've had similar thoughts. I'll have to playtest it. Since this is a CC army I'll be the one going to the opponent so I don't think I'll need march blockers. The dryads should be able to hold the flanks. My main use for the wild riders is getting that invaluable flank charge off to break the enemy battle line. They can do it from 18" away and they will add invaluable CR with the banner/war banner. The list is lacking in speed as it is, and wild riders aren't really optimal for march-blocking and charge-baiting, they should be in CC tearing things up! After reading the tilte of the thread I was a little dissappointed by the list.
Its not really a tree list.
With your list I would consider dropping the wardancer champ in favour of a muscian.
It looks like a fairly standard and serviceable list. It should work nicely.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
