Welcome to Librarium Online!
So I was just talking with some fellow gamers, when the Bears Anger came up.
I always took this spell to be nothing to well to gain from WE, but then I came to thinking (which as we all know, may take awhile), anyway.
Alter Highborn w/ Bears Anger
M WS BS S T A LD
9 * * 6 4 7 *
7 strength 6 attacks, plus say Murder of Spites NASTY!
Its okay, but I've found that using other magic isn't as effective as Loren's Magic. It has the best of both Life and Beast in my opinion. Yes it can most certainly be a nasty combo, and I might use it competitive 'cause of Chariot users.
You're looking at a min. 3000 pt game to use it.
Never rely on a spell for a strategy, esp. with wood elves. Our magic is so weak I don't see this spell ever getting off, except with irresitable force.
Plus with a HotH and a GW you can have 6 S6 attacks, and it costs a lot less points and is a sure thing.
DotR is right - needing two lord choices to pull it off, getting another S6 attack isn't likely to be worth the points. However, the S6 alter is a favorite combo specifically because anything that can dish out 5+ S6 attacks is just brutal.
As fun as your plan would be, in a 3000pt game, most opponents will be able to shut down your magic easily, which is just one of the annoying facts of life about playing WE.
One of the great hindrances in general toward using the Lore of Life or the Lore of Beasts is that you need a Spellweaver to do it - and honestly, if I've got a wizard that powerful on the field, I usually want him to focus on making spells from the Lore of Athel Loren work - our own lore just compliments the WE battle strategy too well.
I tried a Beast Lore Weaver not long ago...and didn't like it too much. I used Bear's Anger on my Standard Bearer to make him a killer combatant, but the the spells of Loren are just too great to pass up
Wood Elves Record (since i started counting)
Below 1000pts: 1-0-0
1000 - 1999pts: 5-2-2
Above 2000pts: 7-1-0
I've found that since most WE magic is complimentary in nature that it is easy to counter. Unless your interested in a barrage of Tree Singing it's just too easy to ignore.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
