Welcome to Librarium Online!
Okay so maybe I don't feel like leaving the house, so I'm going to do a write up on the arcane items. And this ties in with the defensive items since many of these are defensive.
So, lets start:
Wand of Wych Elm 3/5
This is a great item, however, it just isn't very useful at 2k points. I find you need at least 7 dispel dice to get use out of this. It doesn't actually add oomph to your magic defense. 2 scrolls would allow you to dispel more but in big games this is a must.
Calaingor's Stave 5/5
Who wants Ogre Kingdoms magic? I do! Of course this doesn't see much play b/c wood elf magic is not very good. It certainly allows a magic phase to shine though. Even on a spellsinger thats 4 treesinging casts per turn. The added distance doesn't hurt either.
Divination Orb 0/5
This is definately the worst magic item we have. How many times does your opponent cast with 4 or more dice? And when she does, you only get 1 extra die ? I'd rather scroll it than try to score 20 or more using all of my dispel dice. No thanks
Deepwood Sphere 2/5
This is a neat item. The problem with devoting a lot of points to magic for tree singing, is that it is still just tree singing, you still need an army to take advantage of it. This item has a lot of potential but requires too much to make it worthwhile. It would be neat to make an army based around tree singing and bait charging into a forest with the mage.
Ranu's Heartstone 3/5
This is a neat item, though we don't have to worry about miscasts with all the treesinging we do. Its obvious benefit is to be combined with the wand of wych elm so you can reroll a 'miscast' dispel attempt. (note that you cannot take both items on the same character, which is a shame b/c the points would work out so well) I would use this in a big game but I don't see much use for it at 2k points.
Cluster of Radiants 5/5
+1 dispel die? Please! Though its downfall is that the branchwraith is simply overpriced. The item is a must take if you can, and I definately will on any treeman ancient I take.
Great topic DotR I think some ::REP:: is in order!
If anybody disagrees with me Chuck Norris will roundhouse kick you in the face.....not really. But wouldn't it be cool?
Hey, why don't you guys refine it a little and put it towards the tactica?

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
the only item i take every game is CoR its ace
