Ok, so i got a battalion and a noble, and everything seemed to be working fine. That is, until i got to building the glade gaurd champion model. no matter how i position his cloak, i can't get it on his back without getting in the way of another model. It is really starting to frustrate me and i really want to know how to get that cloak on. (i am talking about the one with the vines and gems on the back by the way).
Yeah, ranking up glade guard can be a bit like putting together a jigsaw puzzle. When I put mine together, I had to specifically position some of them further left or right on the base than normal to get them to stand next to each other.
It's just the price we pay for being fashionable.
Ahhh, that cloak!
Yes it was a pain. But I ended up moving all the guys around him as far away from him as their bases would allow.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
You could cut the cloak where necessary, and put green stuff to make the cut look a bit more real, OR, you can make a cloak of your own, just a simple little cloak, with wavy little crevisis :elvis:

Or just not use that cape... i thought that it didnt fit at all with my guys, so i left them all out. I just tried a combo with some spare bits, and the trick is to have him at a diagonal. Then the huge cape wont be too much in the way. You could also not rank them up, i have had great success by having long strings of glade guard on the field, good tactic for playing dwarves...
I also should have mentinoed, that if you shave away most of that ball piece on the back of the cape, it can be closer to the body, making it take up less space

You can just put him on your flank or put him together with another model that has room over it's base.
if you think about it in terms of a unit instead of an individual model then you will have an easier time for example:
Thiss cloak dosn't fit over this guy's base, but if i put him beside those two guys then I can get them all on in base contact.
the other thing tou can do is take off obstructing models first
that guy is in the way of those two guys and Ijust suffered a casualty so I'll take off that guy so he isn't in the way anymore.
Obiously this won't work on command models, but it works for most other things.
and even if that model you just took off was in the middle you can rearange your back ranks as long as it dosn't affect Gameplay. so it was as if you took of a different guy but the interfering model is now out of your way.
Rank 2 6,7,8,9,10
rank 1 1,2,3,4,5
so say 8 is the model interfering you could take off that particular model but reposition your rear ranks
Rank 2 6,7,X,9,10 <-
Rank 1 1,2,3,4,5
I didn't do anything as clever as move the model over on the base more because I glued all the feet sections first before doing anything else...that and I didn't think of that. I simply decided to use the "fancy" cloaks for any scouts that I wanted. The extra vines and gems looks really cool and kinda seems to be more of a guy hiding with leaves all on him/her. This also means the cloaks are on skirmishers and therefore don't get in the way really since the guys are spaced out. When and IF you get into CC with scouts, well, it wont matter much you can deal with arranging ~5 guys for the short and small combat. :C
p.s. - I don't know about y'all but I really like the new smilies... haha
well if you want Glade guard though...
True, keeping in mind that you can only have one unit of scouts per 1 unit of glade guard, so you can't always rely on scouts...
and personally, I'm not a big fan of scouts becauuse the are more expensive and lose glade guard longbows
