Welcome to Librarium Online!
Ok, so I wanna get some opinions from you guys. I currently run a unit of 23 EG with a Highborn (Rhymers Harp, AoN), and a BSB with the Oaken Armor.
Its a great unit. Neither character has ever been wounded and the unit has never lost a combat. I love it.
But Im always looking for ways to be more competitive, so I began experimenting. What would you guys think of exchanging the Oaken Armor for the Moonstone of Hidden Ways? It doesnt affect the effectiveness of the unit and the Regeneration has only come in handy once. (A game against a Chaos army which also happened to have 2 characters in the same unit).
Anyway, the rest of the army is as follows:
2x5 GR w/ Musician
7 Wardancers w/ Musician, Bladesinger
5 Scouts w/ Banner of Zenith
3 Warhawk Riders
Spellsinger w/ 2 Dispel Scrolls
Branchwraith w/ Lvl. 1, CoR
Its a rather quick list. The slowest unit is the EG, and I think that it will add a cool dynamic if I can teleport them across the board at a clutch moment, or even to just deny the enemy something to run their battle line at. Anyway, Im just brainstorming. Tell me what you think.
I think that with a unit of 25 models, the Moonstone is a bit of a waste purely because you need 2 big forests a decent distance from each other. Otherwise you have a 35pt item that is simply unable to do anything (remember, the character and unit have to end their turn completely in a forest and teleport into a forest that they are completely in), so I don't think it's a worthy investment.
What it IS great for, though, is getting a small unit (like those Wardancers) in behind enemy lines.8Y
Besides, I don't think your EG even need the extra maneuverability. M5 with the Rhymers Harp can't be a bad thing.
I agree with AFG.
You will be pushing it to find two advantageously placed large enough forests to make it work.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
I'd have to agree that if will be hard to find two large enough woods that are ideally placed for a large unit of EG to work.
Alright alright, you guys are right. But what else do you think I could throw in there? Im just trying to spice things up a bit. I was thinking of using the Amarnthine Brooch (I think thats what it is, the one that makes enemies strike last). It might help if the unit gets charged but something that moves faster than me, like Ogres.
The Amber Pendant is great, but against Ogres, impact hits would still go first.
If you know you're facing demons, take the spite for magical attacks. You'd be pumping out 15+ magical attacks per round.
The fear causing standard bearer would be different, but I hate how he's unarmored.
If you're going with a BSB just leave him naked.
He has a 5+ WS and a character to protect him. Put him on the edge of the unit and he'll be fine.
try merciw's locus and the fimbulwinter shard. granted, stupidity is somewhat of a gamble with forest spirits nearby, but the general's LD10 should solve that. Merciw's locus should also help a bit against units like knights or great swords that rely on equipment for high S attacks.
