Welcome to Librarium Online!
How do you beat Magic heavy gobbos? I am playing against night goblins and he's using 4 casters.1 level 4 and all the rest are level 2. He has 12 power dice and tons of mushrooms while im sitting on my side with only 4 dispel and 2 scrolls. Every spell he casts can wipe out an entire unit (at least it seems like it) and if i charge with anything his fantics will pop out a crush me.;?
Here's some of my ideas on defeating a Night Gobbo list:Hmm, statistically the highest magic levels at 2000 pts, this guy means buisness. But on the other hand he has no combat heros, and no BSB. This means that the Gobbos will be relying on their normal Ld to pull them through... not the best thing. Hit one of his units with enough shooting to force a panic check, and watch them flee! Also, if their not in units have your Glade Riders/ Great Eagles/ Warhawk Riders strap on their mage hunting helmets and take off. You soon won't be feeling as much pressure in the magic phase.Originally Posted by GanstalongNot really a point, but an easy way to squeez in another 2 dispel sice is with a lvl 1 Branchwraith with cluster of radiance. If you have 2 spellsingers (as I assume you do from the number of dispel dice), I would drop on in favour of the Branchwraith. One DD may very well stop an extra spell.Originally Posted by GanstalongHehe, this one can be a lot of fun to deal with. I'm not sure on his set-up, but I'm going to assume that he has 3 units of gobbos, with 3 fanatics in each of them, counting for a grand total of 9 clinically insane Gobbos chained to a giant metal ball. What you do is take one Great Eagle (the cheapest unit in the whole WE army book) and fly it turn one straight at the middle gobbo unit. This should bring you within 4" of that unit (if you get first turn), and hopefully within 8" of the other 2 units (as they will most likely be deployed side-by-side). That means that 9 fanatics will be deployed on his side of the board, where they have as much chance to go crashing back into his units as they do moving towards your still distant units. Coupled with their low Ld, this can see many Gobbos fleeing the field, without you even lifting a finger.Originally Posted by Ganstalong
Hope this helps
thanks for the advice
He has 4 units 36 goblins weak all with 3 fanatics
1 unit of archers with fanatics
4 pump wagons
and 5 bolt throwers
so far I have Squeezed the fanatics out of the archer unit killing my scouts ( this is when he decided to tell me how fanatics work) and his his right flank unit by teleporting my wardancers into a woods nearby.
when its my turn my great eagle is going to hate me
i was thinking of sending my Treeman ancient close enough to cause terror but not getting killed by fanatics and hoping to see his whole army running although any of his braver shaman will probally just zap him (Goblin magic is powerful !!!)
Bow of Loren with Starfire arrows.
One wound forces a panic check.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
pageant of shrikes + Hunters Talon
shoot the lvl 2's first
Night Gobbo magic is nasty. I agree with B_B. 6 Dispel Dice with 2 scrolls suddenly becomes something to watch when a magic attacker.
Waywatcher are fun. If you can, place a forest behind him with WWs in it. If a Lord has terror, cool. If not, still cool. You can do all kinds of disruption. Just remember to be a good sport and tell him what they can do;Y. If the units flee, teh wizards are in trouble.
Just a thought, but isnt there a way to get an Ethereal WE character? Either by a spell or item. If you can pull that off, run them at the gobbos and let the fanatics run wild amongst his own army
