Welcome to Librarium Online!
I am a new player to wood elves and fantasy in general!
I have looked at a few Lists of the wood elves forum, the thing i noticed is that no one seems to play games of more than 2500 at the club i play the usual amout of fantasy point ppl seem to play is 3000-4000. ( is the unusual)
Just wondering what points ppl normaly play and why!
I think 2000 points is the usual around where I live.
We play 2000 or 2250 at our club for a few reasons.
#1. We book our tables to play on in 3 hour time slots and this point level allows for the game to be done before the next people get the table.
#2. Most tournaments use this point limit, and since alot of our club members like to play in tournaments it is good practice.
#3. GW says that the game was designed to be most fairly balanced at around 2000 points.
Where I play, you can find a game for most points sizes you feel like playing. A number of people from time to time play 500-1k point games for instance. The most common is 2250 or 2k though. As stated before, this is the size used at tournaments and is normally the most balanced at this level. Plus, it provides for a nice long game that isn't too long. Another thing to note is table size. If you play a larger game then you need to have a larger than standard table to really get a good game I would imagine. Otherwise it would be rather cramped playing 4k on a 4x6 table. (WE would lose many of their 'pros' in speed and ability to flank and whatnot.) ;Y

We just use most of what we have. It works fine, and our collections aren't exactly Apocalyptic. My Empire collection's almost 3K points (so I'm beginning to leave much more stuff out of them), and my WE collection's getting up there. It's just that Tankmaster's forces aren't exactly huge, so our games are reduced to almost no bigger than 1500, which works fine for us.
Where I live people are tournament crazy. Since the tourney circuit runs 2250 lists, everyone plays 2250.
Before I moved here, I played 2000 almost exclusively. 2250 is fun because you can squeeze in a few more juicy unit selections.
3000-4000 requires a lot of models and can take a lot of time. I'd rather play two 2000 pt games in a day than one 4000.
2000 to 2250pts most of the time.
However, there are more than enough players to get the odd bigger/smaller game in.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
