hey guys quick question.... the amber pendant states that and enemy model in base contact with the pendant automatically stirke last.. great to use vs HE... so if i equip a wardancer highborn with the pendant and join him in a unit of 6 wardancers and i get into Close combat with swordmasters or any HE do all the HE strike last, or just the models in base contact with my highborn who has the pendant. Basically does the whole unit get the pendant or just the highborn?
Just the highborn. So 2 or 3 HE would strike last depending on how he is situated.
It's great if you can hit the flank of a thinly ranked unit...archers, cavalry. If you don't break the enemy on the turn you charge, then you're going to go first again, with a great weapon on an alter for example, on the second turn. It's just obnoxious.
the best use of the pendant is either in a challenge or against undead. Both times, it is unlikely you will completely kill your enemy, so it's best if you can maintain the initiative advantage.
I recently used it in another way, as a defensive item. I gave it to a wildrider noble on a stag.
I then allowed a unit of empire knights to charge me, due to the large base size of the stag 4 knights went last, and only one knight got his attack in first. I then had 17 strength 4 attacks, the stags attack and 10 strength 3 attacks from the horses. I wiped the floor with them, killing 4, inlcuding the champion. My opponent was horrified by what had happened.
you can only bear the pendent if you are on foot unfortunately skarsgard
I can't believe I missed that. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.
Now I have to appologise to my opponent, oops.
Are there any rules about base size?
If you had the lactose present, you could place a HB on a Stag Base (screw it, we'll go the extra mile and say Dragon Base) and a ton of people would strike last.
VERY powerful for an EG unit.
I dont there any real specifics, but i think it states somewhere that models should be placed on an appropriate base size.
Best advice would be to keep to the standard 15mm base. or try to push a 20mm base, which i have used in some cases.
Any bigger and your pushing you luck. I called a guy the other day because he placed a greater deamon of nurgle on a bas that was twice the size of what it should be. It was all because he wanted to use the new deamon spell which reduces your WS, S, I, and T to 1 if your in bases contact with him.
