So my 6 waywatchers last night deployed behind a building destroyed a high elf bolt thrower and crew on first turn after they charged them. My treeman marched towards the trees first turn towards the High Elves scouts to use his strangle root shooting attack and i rolled a 10 on the art. dice o how sweet that was. anyway i killed 9 scouts out of 10 and demolished two units in the first turn.
I love what the waywatchers did for me last night, but i have a feeling now it will be hard to deploy them becasue my friend will now know about there deployment out of sight in his zone.
then again the treeman is just down right nasty and i am still considering on getting 6 waywatcher models and using 3 units of 10 GG...(note i used 6 Glade guard models as waywatchers since i do not have the models, and only used 2 units of 10 Glade Guard)
Or do i get another treeman model to field two in a battle and go after his dragon with mounted general... and i could always use the glade guard models as waywatchers if i felt like it, and drop a treeman for a battle. this seems like more sense to me. my friend doesnt care what models i use so the GG as waywatchers is not a problem.
Double Treeman lists are popular here in Oz, but if you do, make one your general as an ancient with annoyance of nettlings and cluster of radiants. He's just hell to your opponent, i just got back from a game where he was waltzing around destroying ogre units with impunity, carrying the enemy BSBs head and his banner, along with a unit of leadbelchers, another irongut unit (with warbanner), and an enemy butcher. He ended up earning easily double his points worth on the field.
But I digress. The reason this works is because of the annoyance of nettlings, whenever he gets into a fight, throw out the challenge. Only one guy can fight him and 6s to hit? not cool. (at least for them)
Personally though, I use the ancient and a unit of waywatchers, you get the best of both worlds that way, and my waywatchers always make their worth back through marchblocks alone, then you factor in the kills they occasionally get.
not going to lie i love walking around with a wardancer highborn with blades of loec, the annoyance and amber pendant vs high elves.. she does work... i just love the treeman model and the dragon i play against is waht scares me the most becasue i dont have any other high T units to deal with him except 1 treeman
This also works for the Greater Daemons of the new chaos daemons army. Give it a whirl!
Except on the Lord of Change, the Daemonic Robes make it immune to any attack that is strength 6 or below.
So you Woodies need to get some new high strength attacks or use poison and items that wound automatically.
"I am the architect of fate!"
I think that's the best way to do it.
Unless Long Drong Throngs Slayer Pirates have the Slayer rule, but even then...
That said, there IS always the GW-Netling-toting Alter Noble.
untill you shoot at the sea guard who you find out have some 4+ save and his swordmasters who manage to have a incense on them making it harder to hit them with shooting attacks... i will probably just get another treeman, this way i will have two treeman in my army, and if i dont feel like using 2 in the same battle i can just drop them, and take out some Glade guard and use them as way watchers... yet i think waywatchers may be the best models out there imo
