After playing 40K for who knows how long now, I finally was finally able to organise a game of WHFB- my WEs got to make their return against a DE force that massacred our very own Binz's HoC last week.
The game was 1500pts, and his force consisted of a crapload of Dark Riders (they caused a right headache the whole game- especially once my GRs got shot), a large unit of Spearmen, a RBT, a unit of COR, a Chariot, a Hero, and 2 Sorceresses. My force saw my generic builds- a lvl1 BW with Radiants and a Murder (Netlings cry cheese), an Alter with the Briarsheath and Pendant, a WW Hero with a HoDA and the Locus (took that one on a whim tbh), a unit of GG, Scouts, WDs, GRs, Wardancers and a Treeman.
The plan was to delay half his force, with the GG making a firebase, and the TM, Dryads and Wardancers would chop through pretty much everything.
I won't bore you with details, but the battle went more or less to plan with the WW HoDAing the lone Sorceress and then charging the RBT. Those Dark Riders really proved a nuisance, shooting my own GRs in one lucky turn. The game was over Turn 4 and he had nothing left on the board aside from a deserted RBT.
Highlights included the RBT firing 6 bolts at my WW, hitting twice then wounding once (so it got charged next turn), the HoDA rolling a 3 for the amount of arrows, the BW actually casting Treesing (on Irresistable Force at that), the TM popping out from a building and strangling 2 CORs- the sheer expression on Adrians face was well worth it, the Crossbowmen shooting at my Alter Noble needing 10s to hit (and hitting once), the Dark Riders on the right flank shooting my GRs to a man (or elf) in one lethal shoot phase, and my WW missing a unit of Spearmen at Point Blank!?! Clearly shooting will be added to the curriculum in the near future (the Scouts weren't that great either). The game went real fast, I guess that's what happens when you have 2 fast armies having a game. My opponent was a great general and an excellent sport, and I'll be looking forwards to our next meeting. Next week, my Empire get an outing against Binz (I shudder to think how they'll perform).
Well, that was more or less my reintroduction back into WHFB, and I must say that that game was a hang of a lot of fun (I'd forgotten the tactical prowess needed compared to 40K- big tanks, big guns and one huge army list).
Welcome back to the light side AFG
AFG, you played 40K?!
Anyhow, Athel Loren's prodigal children always come home. Good to see you had an enjoyable game coming back.
Dark elves need their arses kicked once in a while.
Good luck with Empire.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
I'm actually gonna get back in to 40k soon myself. I played a lot of my Wood Elves lately. Time to bring back the power of Chaos. Though I would like to play DE. I all I have left to play is DE, Skaven, and Orges. Oh yeah, another Wood Elves player. Of course as far as I know, Skaven and Orges stink so thats why there is a low amount of users. Meh, owner of my store I go to plays them, maybe when he's available I can pressure him into a game. Anywho, welcome back.
