I' m fighting Ogres in my local store tomorrow, the Store' s Army, v. s. all participants, each participant is allowed 500 Points.
Any Ideas on Tactics e. t. c.?
Should I focus on Shooting them, or something Else?

You will most definately be outnumbering him, so make use of it and outmanouvre him.
Don't forget Ogres are damn fast tho!
Shooting will be harder I think, they move fast and you want to make sure YOU are the one to initiate combat, preferably side/rear.
In my experience, dryads kick ass. So mass them. Also take Glade Riders to lock them into combat or use them to lure them (flee charge reaction) and charge your dryads in the side.
Are you going to take a character? if so I recomend Hail of Doom Arrows. They do well vs T4 units.
But in a 500pt. battle a character is pretty expensive.
Wardancers seem like a viable option to me aswell.
giving the fact that you will be outnumbering him, once you have units in combat you archers wont have a target. And he be trying to get into combat asap.
But then again I'm basing this on my experience, someone else may have a totally different vieuw.
It sounds like however many people enter, they will make an ogre army of that size. Them vs all participants like you said right???
With that in mind, you would have three options, depending on your allies.
These options would be the best Wood Elf strengths to supplement other armies. you should be relying on them for magic power or defence, and if dwarfs show up, you probably wont be choosing option 1, as their guns will annihilate ogres, and then you can focus on another strategy.
- Shooting! this one is simple: 3 units of 10 glade guard, plus alter noble with hail of doom arrow and whatever else within points. focus fire on the threat that is within short range. Doubly great if the general's unit wanders over.
- Be a pain in the @%&. Glade riders and mounted noble. Run around out of sight, shooting things with impunity, and dont forget marchblocking! Its one of the best ways to stop an ogre army. The unit with the mounted noble could probably flank charge a unit too, butonly if you are facing a single ogre in doing so.
- Fighty. Alter Noble works here as an alter kindred with Hail of Doom, Helm of the Hunt, Great Weapon, Light Armor. He's a house all on his own, with movement 9 and 5 str6 attacks. Just keep him away from butchers (bonecruncher will kill him mighty quick) and leadbelchers (if for some reason they waste the shots on him) Other units to use would be Dryads and wardancers.
Hope this helps, and Good Luck!
All good advice here.
I love playing against Ogres and find them one of the easiest enemies to deal with.
Don't deploy your archers up their full 12". Keep them around 7 or 8 to buy a round of shooting. Jump his ogre units on the flanks and rear, combining charges, whenever possible. If you can get a flank and drop the one model there, you can avoid any attacks back, making winning combat much easier.
Ogres have good toughness but crappy armor. Dryads, Wardancers, and Wild Riders should make short work of them.
If you can pile on a butcher, it can help you reduce their magic, but remember that butchers are toughness 5.
Like cuttingedge says, alter nobles work great. I'd even run two. One, a highborn, the other, a noble. With the HotH in the fray, they dish out 10 str 6 attacks on the charge. Just keep them operating together.
I usually unleash the hail of doom arrow on leadbelchers to get rid of them early.
Pretty much echo David here. I find the OK to be one of the easiest armies to face with WE's. Use speed and mobility to outflank, never hit them front on.
Shoot them, force panic checks and make them run.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
Being an OK player. Trust whatever anyone is telling you here.
Just make sure that if your takin and alter hero, amek sure you also take another hero as an alter character can't be the general.
You have to be careful though. Mainly because if the store OK are takin on several 500point armies, he may have a lord or 2.
Sunday 20th July Wood Elves vs. Brettonians
Mission: Flank Attack (Brettonians attacking)
Score: Wood Elves - 4181
Brettonians - 0
Last game for me 3 ironguts and a bruiser lost combat to a group of dryads. Those things are nasty. To even it out though his hail of doom arrow did only 1 wound to my belchers.
You need to get the charge and if you can't try to make sure he can't charge you from 6" or more out.
I doubt he'd have a butcher at 500pts. A bruiser, butcher and manditory 3 bulls is already 365 points without any items, so if you can afford a mage you might be able to dominate your magic phase.

Thank You for your Contributions!
I was teamed up with High Elves, so that made things a bit easier, but because so many of them were killed, we only just lost, due to VPs. >.<. Everone' s advice really helped though. Thank You.
