I was wondering if any of you had success with a Wood Elves list that was all Cavalry and Flyers. Would be interesting to get your thoughts on how well this would go.
I have a Noble on Stag, Glade Riders, Wild Riders and a great eagle. If I add some more Glade Riders I could probably field a 1000 point army. I think a fast moving cavalry based wood elves army would be fun and would be a great theme. Pity the Dancers cant be mounted.
It works but is very unforgiving. The high points cost per model means that you cannot abrob casualties very well at all.
Also, concentrate on having very good magic defence. I used a list similar to this.
Mounted Spellweaver level 4; dispel scroll; wand of wych elm
Mounted Spellsinger level 2; 2 dispel scrolls
I had them as glamourweave and put them in two wildrider units.
Mounted noble with helm of the hunt, spear and hail of doom arrows
mounted wildrider noble with dawnspear.
5 glade riders, music
5 glade riders, music
8 glade riders, full command
6 wildriders, FC, warbanner
6 wildriders, FC
6 Wildriders, FC
3 Warhawk riders
DD = 5, with rerolls and 3 scrolls.
It worked fairly well, but my opponents hated facing it and called it the Wood Elf "flying circus" so I stopped playing it.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
Haha, that's awesome.
You'd have to use the Eagles and GRs to expose some flanks to be subsequently mowed down the the avenging WRs (with characters, of course).
That sounds like a fun list skarsgard. My friends would greatly dislike it, especially because it would be a total divergence from my usual playing style. I like the theme.
