Welcome to Librarium Online!
What's to say we can't do it? I mean, we're going to get shafted anyways (so we don't owe GW anything), waiting 3 more year to get another codex (and that's an huge IF, seeing as they waited, what, 7 year last time?) By then, we will be COMPLETELY obsolete, yet again.
Why don't we make a new codex ourselves, David (we all value your opinion alot buddy), me, and a couple of other people could lead the project. We'll modify and vote on each item, unit, and rule until we agree they're good. We'll take from fluff some heros that lack entries.
Plus when we're finish we can test it around various forums, Warseer, Asari Forest, etc. Get feedback.
Once we get a balance codex, we can bittorrent across the web as the "unofficial codex". It's not as if we need to change a whole lot either.
Are you guys up for something like that? It would be fun.
the army book is fine as it is
I don't really know if it's necessary, to be honest. Okay so they've upped the ante across the board with all the armies since High Elves, but Wood Elves can still hold their own. Having said that, I may be prepared to make a contribution if there's enough enthusiasm for your idea.
I'm also interested to see how many people there are that do feel it's needed and why.
It has yet to be proven that intelligence has any survival value. - Arthur C. Clarke (1917 - 2008)
um i dont really care , but it sounds really fun.
so im in.
like yeah the army book is fine the way it is but who cares, dosent mean we cant do it.
I don't personally feel it's needed. The army's strengths are still solid. Really, the army only has two significant "weaknesses".
1. Our magic is expensive and not very "hurty".
2. We rarely rank up with large blocks of troops.
We have many ways to work around #2. It's one of the things that makes playing this army so much fun.
It's the 1st "weakness" that is causing us the most grief in comparison to the latest few army books. That said, I wouldn't want to change much about it. I like the lores as they are; I feel like WE magic really fits the army fluff perfectly. All I would change about the army's rules is to recost our magic characters and a few of the magic items. Make them somewhat cheaper, and we wouldn't feel the pain so badly.
However, magic is really the only sticking point holding this army back from total domination. Maybe it should stay exactly as-is. (??)
ninjabackhand: point and click, again, really? even after i give you an military term "shock tactic" you still call it point and click.
RIP Warhammer 40,000: 21 Sep 1998 - 24 May 2014
and thats your personal opinion, now ill do it, i really dont care if its just me and the dude that posted this fourm.
If people dont feel its need then thats fine. I disagree that the book is fine, simply since 90% of the items are worthless and none of the heroes/heroines are all that great.
We use good standard saves, speed and guile to overwhelm for our lack strength and fortitude as a race. However the rift between in overcoming that is growing, speed is useless versus High Elves, guile useless versus Dark Elves, and the saves for our standard troop Dyrad and our scalpel (as i like to call them) unit Wild Riders are worthless versus Daemons. Does anyone else see the pattern?
Plus I donno about you, I wish Wood Elf magic was a bit more viable too. Spells are fine but we are REALLY hard press to cast anything most of the time. Undead in army I never bother trying to use magic versus.
As I see it, each army is strong in five areas, Speed, Strength, Numbers, Magic, and Army Composition. The paradigm as changed alot in the last year. I'm not complaining, still win against these armies occasionally but its getting harder as these players know their army better.
So if many of you dont wants to do this, thats fine. kpjg does, but we need more people, codex are made through collaboration.

ill do it with ya, like true there is no point but it still seems like a fun time killer, but if people are like, wardancers should be ws 7! than it wouldent be fun
and i like the whole 5 army tactic things
WE's were one of the hardest armies to beat before the 7th ed. books came out, now with these new armies i think we may have fallen in the ranks a bit but WE's will ALWAYS be one of the most competitive races in my opinion. That being said i agree maybe our magic needs a little more juice.
Nah not even more juice, just cheap casters or better arcane goodies. Cheaper casters is my preference.
Yeah Wood Elves is competitive but not for long. Start of next year, gurantee you that Daemon is numero uno. Followed by one of the other Elves.
