Welcome to Librarium Online!
Some of these are more general due to being new to WHFB in general, but I figured I might as well post them alongside the specific WE questions.
1.) Is there no Instant Death rule in Fantasy? In the first game an Alter Noble got hit by a cannonball. Only a single wound was rolled, but the opponent said I had to remove him anyway. A lot of my house plays 40k as well as WHFB so I'm not sure if there is a mix up, as I haven't seen an instant death based on strength rule anywhere. If such a rule exists, can you point me to it?
2.) Magic items don't get the benefit of whatever type they are unless it says so. I noticed a lot of items do grant their standard bonus, but I'm curious about the Blades of Loec. It has (Wardancer Weapons) in paranthesis, but nothing to indicate in its actual text it gives the +1A/+1 STR bonus the plain weapons do. Do they, or don't they, and if they don't, are they worth taking?
3.) Hail of Doom Arrow. Everyone seems to love this item. In my ~1000 pt list I've been half-proxying, I've been taking a Wardancer Noble as one hero and a Spellsinger as the other. Since the Wardancer can't have a bow , do you think it is worth putting the arrow on my wizard even though his BS is only 4? I've also debated taking another hero, but doing that just for the arrow seems like a waste.
Sorry I can't post my exact list at the moment, as I'm at work. It was mostly built from the hand-me down models I was given. I believe the one I was running for the "introductory games" I was doing is actually illegal now, as it only had Gladeguard and Eternal Guard as its 2+ troops (I originally thought eternal guard were a troop choice if your general was a noble/highborn, though it's actually highborn only. urgh)
I think there is a rule where if a chariot takes a strength 7 wound it will die automatically no matter how many wounds it has left. They might have take that rule out though, I just don't play against many armies that use chariots and I don't have any attacks at str 7
Yes chariots do still die if they are hit by strength 7 or higher(this being the main reason I used a rune to make my bolt thrower strength 7 for my Dwarfs) but this only applies to chariots.
