    Daemons of Chaos

    Greetings all,

I play a fast and shooty list in a local escalation league. We're currently at 1500 points. Saturday I'll be facing Daemons of Chaos. Do you have any warnings or advice for me?

    Here's my current list.

    Noble on Great Eagle
    -LA, Shield, Spear
    -HoDA
    -HotH

    Alterkin
    -LA
    -Wildfire Blades
    - Annoyance of Nettlings

    Alterkin
    -LA, Shield, GW
    -Pageant
    -Hunter’s Talon

    Glade Riders x5
    -Musician

    Glade Riders x5
    -Musician

    Glade Riders x5
    -Musician

    Glade Riders x5
    -Musician

    Warhawk Riders x3
    -Wind Rider

    Warhawk Riders x3

    Waywatchers x10

The Alterkin with the Wildfire blades is for his Herald of Nurgle. I've not seen him without a block of Plaguebearers yet. They've always got that Herald with them.

Any advice that can be fielded is appreciated. I'm not quite sure what dirty tricks they can pull.

beware that if you challenge his herald, he can refuse and even if you send him to the back rank the unit still gets regen.

Since your army is very fragile watch out for sleenash guys as they are very fast and will hit fairly hard on our t3 and low armor troops.

my advice would be to avoid the block of plaguebearers and go for the lower toughness troops like korn and sleenash.

The magic phase might be tough for you unless you can get to his wizards quickly with the alters.

Thanks for teh heads up. I tend to avoid CC as much as possible. Hopefully the WW will be marchblocking. I know I can't count on it. The Seekers he'll probably be fielding will be my #1 priority. He stopped fielding Screamers against wood elves a long while ago, unable to actually get to us.

I'll keep the rest in mind. I know that Korne demons make fantastic target practice. Slanesh are just frightening. They cover more ground than we do, and that ain't right.

slanesh are also low toughness. You should be able to shoot them to pieces.

Bear in mind, Tzeench wizards have 4+ wards. Nurgle wizards have 4+ regenerate and 5+ wards. I wouldn't anticipate success at sniping them.

Also, flamers will make t3 unhappy. Luckily, you'll outrange them.

Nice list btw! I like the speed!

Thanks. It's my first WH list. I wanted to play something fast that excelled at harrying opponents. It's a bit frustrating being told "You're doing it wrong."

On occasion I'll field a Forest Spirit list so they can see the wrath of Athel Loren from the other direction. I do love my Wild Riders. I'm also one of the only people I know of that fields the Noble on a Stag with them.

I like the list but some magic protection would be useful
Daemonic cheese-how? Well, you would need to start with daemonic milk, i guess...

I generally consider the second Alter my magic protection. I'm sure I'll have a harder time against a list fielding some truly heinous power dice, but for now this tactic has worked well for me. I've never seen magic be dependable enough to worry about it. It's often jsut a matter of knowing when to hold 'em and when to fold 'em.

I was just thinking, I might consider trying to get some Wild Riders. They'd give you some hitting power to compliment your alter kins.

I'd consider swapping the warhawks for a great eagle and some Wild Riders. Or maybe a unit of glade riders and a Warwatcher or two...

Not sure, but I think the Riders would add alot of options.

While I can see the appeal of a Great Eagle, at the moment the Warhawk Riders fill just about the same role, and the Waywatchers take up my only rare slot.

I'm pretty sure that Wild Riders will make it into the list on occasion. I do love fielding them. In a local campaign, when we hit 2k points, I'm probably going to break out Orion for kicks.
