So 600pnts isn't a whole lot of points.
what do you guys run in your low point cost lists and how do they fair?
For it depends on the day but dryads, glade guard and glade riders are all viable at the 600 point level. All depends what else you are taking with them and your style.
Wardancers in a unit of 7-8 with command and a Noble with them (not with the wardancer kindred just with them) can be effective.
I have found a unit of waywatchers to be useful in small games.
Wild riders (with the appropriate upgrades - std bearer and warbanner) and treemen are far too expensive i small games for my liking.
Warhawk riders and great eagles are good at getting things killed where they need to be killed. There should be lots of room on a 600 point field to manover around enemy units.
Ya i agree.
Its nice that dryads are so cheap i mean 96 points for a unit is so nice.
a small groups of watwatchers are nice when your fighting that BIG unit of heavily armed guys.
Recently i have found that the Noble on the Great Eagle can be quite devistating.
I'm not a big fan of waywatchers at this point level. They are almost as expensive as wild riders and you need some numbers to get the killing blows to deal with knights.
If you want to be abusive, take the hail of doom arrow. Otherwise, I like taking a branchwraith with annoyance of netlings as the only character -- cheap and survivable.
Ya, i wasnt really asking about what magic items. HoDA is just disgusting at this point level.
I was asking more along the lines of units.
Wild riders dont cost so much if you dont upgrade them.
A Great Eagle is pretty awesome at this point level. 50 points is pretty cheap for a rare choice
I wouldn't take wild riders or waywatchers at this level. I like WWs, but they are WAY too expensive for at 600 pts. Wild Riders aren't much better. You can get plenty of hitting power without them IMO. Treekin?! That's 200 points plopped into one unit. Wood Elves play really well with their points distributed over small units. You can afford little units, not give away many VPs, and still have viable killing power with the remaining units. Treekin offer up a game-winning amount of points. They're stout and strong, but I wouldn't use them until 1750 or so. Anyhow, that's just me.
Here's what I'd take:
Noble, elf steed, lt armor, shield, spear
Glade Riders x 5
Glade Guard x 10
Dryads x 8
Wardancers x 5
The Glade Riders would escort the noble who'll unleash the HoDA early. He can also support them in feigned flight. The unit will add its shooting to the Glade Guard's to soften up vulnerable units while the Dryads and Wardancers linger back, waiting for the chance to pile on an enemy.
Great Eagles are terrific options at any point level.
I'll have to agree that i think Treekin are to expensive at this point total.
Ive really never like to use treekin preferring the fast and agile units the W.E.s offer. treekin just dont seem to fit that ideal, but i mean they are nice to have as an Anvil unit. just sooo expenisve at 600 pnts
