Hi again, I am a new fantasy player and I just got my order in the mail.
I got a total of 16 GR, and i don't know exactly how to build them. I am fine with the actual building, but i don't know what parts to use. Should i use all bows or spears or a mixture, and do i need to give one of them a horn thingy(musician?) or a banner, I get confused when i look at all those pieces given, so please tell me which of them to use before i start gluing. Please include ideas on fielding them also, like squad sizes and what command people do i need to include.
Glade riders are usually fielded in units of 5 including a musician. For building the new ones come with the bow arm and the spear is attached to the cloak that goes on the back. Do you maybe have older models with bits from the days when you had to separate the units into bow users and spear users? If so, you should build up some wild riders from the spear guys.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
The new plastic glade riders do have spear arms as well as bow arms.
Anyway, assuming you want to use the models as glade riders and not convert them into something else, you can really equip them however you want. They count as having a spear and a bow regardless of whether you put a bow arm or a spear arm on them.
Sirkently is correct about the typical unit setup. You have 16 models, so aim for three units of five men. You can field them with or without the musician -- either way is good. I'd make 3 musician models just in case, and you can swap out the 16th man for a musician in case you want to field a unit of 5 without the musician. I would not suggest making any standard bearers.
could someone tell me what a musician does? and also why does the codex show stats for 3 things: Glade rider, horse master, and elven steed. Is it possible for the horse to die and the model just walks? I am a little confused. I am also wondering if what you recommend for my 24 glade guard, what command parts and what size squads.

Musicians do two things for units: they break ties in combat, and (more importantly for GR), add +1 to rally attempts. Since Glade Riders abuse the bait n' flee tactic often, it's usually pretty good to give them Leadership 9 for rally attempts (8+1).
The army book (not Codex) is listing the three elements that make up the Glade Rider unit.
The Glade Rider is the actual elf who flits around on the horse.
The Elven Steed is his ride.
A Horse Master is a champion model for the Glade Rider unit. Champions are typically not taken for Glade Riders because they only increase the BS of a guy by 1, and if in a pinch the Glade Riders charge an enemy to snipe a weak character (like a mage), a challenge to your champion can limit the number of attacks you can put on the character - not to mention, it costs you more points.
Finally, Glade Guard are typically taken in units of 10 with a musician.
Also note that the musician is even more optional for the glade guard. I only give my glade guard musicians if I have spare points left over.
