Welcome to Librarium Online!
Well, this past weekend i got destroyed by demons in 2k and, granted,i haven't played WFB for awhile but i dont remember ever losing so bad.
I probably killed a dozen demons, and got destroyed in return. All i had left was my scroll caddy and a glade guard unit left.A few problems i ran into is that i had too many units on the table!I had no space to move around in my deployment zone it seemed. And all my small units got decimated in combat. So:whats up with all the small unit sizes in the army list section?
How many units in a 2k game is really enough?and i was thinking of a mostly shooting army(GG,maybe scouts for skrimishing bows, Alter Highborn,Waywatchers,Standard magic defense,Tree Kin and wardancers for combat).Wood elf shooting is supposed to be the best, has anyone tried an all shooting list?

If you've been gone for awhile you have some homework to do. Woodleves play very differently than any other army now and the only way to learn is to practice with them. We do alot of running away to avoid combat and set up ambushes. It takes awhile to learn how to do this, as you need to know your own troops very well, and also that of your oponent.
good luck tho, WE is the most satisfying army to play with, as victories are earned by skill, not by stacked lists.
Don't judge your list or skills based of playing a daemons of chaos army. They are the first army in the yet to be released Superpowered WHFB game. They are just really over the top hard and against them you need a lest that is setup just to battle them. And even then it is really hard.
Wood elves may be the best shooters in the game, but I don't think they have the best shooting army. Others can outdo us by sheer volume. Are guys are still expensive. Movement is our specialty, multicharging any unit we want to engage.
Again, don't judge vs daemons as all armies have the same problem with them.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
What kind of deamons list was it?
Not to be rude or insenstive, but I think you lost more because of your lack of knowledge of the enemy and from just being rusty. WE are a very finesse type army. If you don't perform just right (or even roll right) you can lose half your army in 1 turn. They are very fragile and one false move can ruin your day.
I don't think the focus of the army has changed one bit. I think an all shooting army would have had trouble a few years ago just as it does now. Balance is the key to every good list. The skill is in putting the right units in the right place at the right time ~ the rest is rolling dice.
Yes, the demons are a tough army, especially if the player knew what he was doing, but they are not unstoppable, just very tough since they have all the advantages and WE have several disadvantages.
Their issue is efficiency. They are absurdely powerful, but cannot make efficient units. So, they have head count issues.
Nurgle, Tzeentch, Khorne, and Slaanesh all have different weaknesses too. So, knowing what KIND of deamon you will be fighting is as important as knowing that it's deamons to begin with.
