Over a year ago this was posted by our friend DavidWC09, I found it in my user CP of a comment I posed a while ago.I think it raises an interesting point about the game today. Would this still work as I find it hard to find flaw in the logic still. so discuss... again (I am pretty sure most people on this board are different form then anyway)"A guy I know used to play an unorthodox Wood Elves army with 50 archers and two Treemen. True to form, Mark played it unorthodox, too, in that he rarely took the Treemen into combat. Instead, he'd wander around the table with them and Stranglerooted enemies to death.
His massive amount of shooting was incredibly difficult to overcome, and he never risked giving up the VPs of his Treemen.
Do you think this cockeyed strategy will hold against most armies? I remember it as a strong list, though it was a relatively small gaming group. 10 guys on busy days. 14 for a tourney."
Wash: This landing is gonna get pretty interesting.
Mal: Define "interesting".
Wash: [deadpan] Oh God, oh God, we're all going to die?
I'm thinking the versatility of magic in the newer armies would prove problematic for the flammable treemen. Magic is the biggest issue with the armies of today I find.
Editted for typo.
well it really depends, did he have any scroll caddies? or anything of the like? because now magic would just kill those treemen. If I were to do this I would have two treemen as rares, and every hero I had would be a caster with however many scrolls they could take, and maybe some magic items that would help out a bit, never really looked at woodelf magic lol...but I'd have at least 6 scrolls up to a total of 10
I serve my master and do as he wants. He wants the badlands, thus they will be his.

It works well, but as stated you need some anti magic.
When I played it I went with a BSB on eagle with the MR banner, a wraith with cluster and a spellweaver with the wand of wychelm + the standard alter.
Gives you 6 DD with rerolls and basically MR1 on everything or most things. I only had 40 archers though and a unit of dyrads for the wraith.
The amount of shooting you can do is crazy, the treeman will get in combat just never by me as I always shot, and would stand and shoot when charged.
