Hey guys recently bought a 2nd hand forest dragon. After removing some of the spites and painting the thing I'm ready to try it out. But first I wanna hear some feedback from you guys on the highborn/dragon build.
I'll probably going to need a ward save on dragon and rider
Rhymers harp is expensive and only 5+ WS
Stone of crystal mere is playing the odds but it's 4+ WS
Guess the trick is the same as playing treeman keeping out of LOS of enemy artillery as long as possible.
Since he's hiding the first turns it's no use boosting his shooting too much except maybe a hail of doom arrow.
Highborn: HoDA,Helm of the hunt,Sword of might,Stone of crystal m., light armour & shield
Thnx in advance
Also uploaded some WE scenery here

There are many possibly effective combinations for your dragon.
SwarmOfSeals had an amazing post on how to equip your dragon for defense that pretty much broke down the math hammer involved in protecting your dragon.
Long story short the RIDER is much more vulnerable than the dragon. So you should focus up on fixing him.
Also i prefer to equip my rider with more of a melee scheme than a shooty one. The Dawnspear is one of my favorite. Helm of the hunt works nicely too, but i like the Standard Alter to much.
Just some input. I didnt want to give a full build because the dragon rider doesnt have a single "THIS IS TEH UBER SUPER BUILD TO USE LOLZ!!!11" and many people play it differently
I appreciate the input.
Yeah i was thinking dawn spear as well and drop the magic arrows.
It is more likely i will face bolt throwers - dragon can get multiple wound in 1 shot - IMO protecting both is important.
other hero slots would be: A BSB with HodA, Spellsinger 2 scrolls
both with the necessary armour ofcourse
army value will be between 2500-3000pts
3x 8 dryads
2x 10 glade gaurd
2x 6 glade riders
6 Wild riders
other valueble posts including the post (Everything you have ever wanted to know about shooting and your Dragon Highborn)of of swarmofseals
Highborn dragon loadout (Highborn, Dragon, Loren, Bodkins - Justified?)

Most versitile build I've found is:
Sword of might, Helm of the Hunt, SotCM and HoDA on the dragon.
Problem with the dragon is you kind of shoehorn yourself into taking a scroll caddy and a BW for the 5dd and 2 scrolls. Its a build that can do well in combat but still has the protection and can fire the HoDA easily.
