Best units for very small games?

I'm brand new to WE, and in fact to WHFB in general, and in fact to tabletop gaming in general! I'm very excited to join the little green men.

The group I will be playing with most frequently includes Skaven, Dwarves, Lizardmen, and DoC. Currently they mostly play 500 to 750 point games. What units are effective in such a small game? (I'm going to try for 750 points) Can you help me out with some basic WE-specific tactical ideas as well?

Also, to whoever assembled the tactica, it's unbelievable, and was a large deciding factor in making me finally decide on WE, so thank you!

    small units

War Dancers are great in small games! They have many options that are available to them and can deal some damage. (plus they aren't super expensive).

Dryads are also great. Powerful, Fast, and Cheap.

If your looking to lose friends and make your new opponents hate you. Give your self a Noble with Hail of Doom Arrow. At this point level it is probably the lamest thing you can do, but if your being competitive its no big deal.

Wood elves really shine in low point games. Enjoy kicking some butt!

Haha thanks for the useful feedback!! They're good friends, which means they can stand to be dominated and still like me hehe. I think I'm going with units of Glade Guards, Dryads, Wardancers, and the noble as a general for now.

HoDA is superb in small games, but could tick people off as you can wipe out a significant amount of their army in one go.

A great eagle is cheap and really effective. But you can't beat dryads and glade guard. A minimal unit of wardancers would still dominate.

+1 on the eagle, can be great for march blocking and taking out warmachines

Glade Riders as core might be good.

The ability to reform, march and shoot and shoot backwards means in a small game they can be a real hassle. And the enemy might have nothing to catch them with.

    How about

Level 1 Spellsinger x2 Dispel scrolls

1 Noble with Great Weapon Light Armour + Shield

    10 Glade Guard

    5 Glade Riders

    7 Wardancers +Musician + Champion

    8 Dryads

    1 Eagle

I think that comes to 750pts odd.
