What are some ways to kit out your general on a giant eagle. I am looking for different ways to make lists that are not my standard cookie cutter way. Thank you for your help.
Why use science and education when ignorance and superstition will work just as well.
If you are going for a lord, give him something like PoS, Bow of Loren and arcane bodkins (pick off about 4 rank n' file models a turn). Or give him Blight of Terrors (hehe terror check) the Dawnspear and make him go warmachine hunting!
I would try to keep him shooty and close to the enemy's rear! That way you can marchblock with the eagle, and shoot nastyness with the lord.
I use this setup with a lot of success.
Highborn, great eagle, lt armor, spear, Bow of Loren, Arcane Bodkins, Glamourweave, Enchanted Shield. So he has a 4+ armor against all wounds, 4+ ward against all shooting and magic missiles. Ranged attacks/spells randomize onto the bird. He has four str 5 attacks on the charge. He has 4 armor-ignoring arrows a turn.
I seldom put him into combat. I run him around using his leadership where it's needed, and I keep him out of LoS of enemy ranged attacks and wizards as much as possible. He can march block, but he's really there to bust armor and lend leadership. And he's also points denial. That's 300 points that's hard to catch, 400 points if you account for him being the general.
It's been very successful for how I play.
