Welcome to Librarium Online!
New here, and I'm also new to Wood Elves. So far I've painted 3 treekin and 20 Glade Guard. I am looking to get a tree man, but personally I think the models look like crap. Has anyone tried to use LoTR treants in place of GW Treemen?
Ent | Games Workshop
This was the one I'm looking at. Is the size going to be off? I want my treeman to be large and imposing. Also, do you think the model works with the Wood Elves, looks-wise?
Anyone else have an alternative idea for a treeman?
hmm, I personnaly dont like the LoTR treeman... I think that the lines around the knees are dull.
But that treeman is higher than the treeman we have. At the other hand the treeman looks way more imposing than the ent. The ent is simply a tree where the treeman is an angry tree.
And dont forget that if you want to go with the ent, you will have to put it onto a large base (moster) cause the LoTR bases are round, and that won't do.
I do believe that if you have some greenstuff skill that you can make the ent into something more imposing, more angry. But that is above my own skill level.
If you want to make a treeman yourself... well im sorry but I have no clue.
I still think the best treeman is the ones made out of the citadel wood, that way they look like the trees on the board.
If you'll look in the Treekin link in my sig, you'll find a quick and easy way to make your own treeman/kin.
I wouldn't buy a model you don't "love", its gonna be a pain to paint.
I use the old LoTR model for Treebeard
Cause honestly? who wants to fight the most badass of all ents?
Dunno if this link works. This is my Avatar of Freya, from the Ultraforge Miniatures.
Edit: It works.
Here's some other shots.
You can redeem the workshop treeman somewhat with copious amounts of clump foliage. This has the added bonus that if you put it in a wood, it looks like part of the wood, and people forget it's there. Stealth treemen for the win!
