Our club is starting a warbands campaign that will start sometime next week. I just started wood elves two weeks ago and have no clue what to bring with me. The first week will be 200 points and then each proceeding week will add another 100 points to the list. I will be playing pretty much every army except for daemons, beasts and dogs. I know I can kite around most things, but I still need help with gun lines and a kit for my hero.
Yes I forgot to clarify that so I'll only take one hero-I'll have 150 points for him then.
If you are playing warbands, I wouldn't start with any heroes. Take some dryads, glade guard, and maybe some wardancers. Include a champ in one of the units to be your general. Units around 4-5 models are usually good.
As you go up, you can add in some bigger things. Singular treekin, eagles, and heroes can come later.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
In order to use a champ as your general do you have to reach the minimum unit size? I think thats what the warbands rule states. This would make it very hard for us WE to get 2 core and a small unit of wardancers or anything else for that matter. It also says that a bladesinger (wardancer champ) cannot be a general. For example:
8 Dryads, branchnymph =108 (the cheapest core with a champ)
3 Glade Guard= 36
3 wardancers= 54
This seem a little rough for us, please tell me i am missing something...
I personally think that list works good. The enemy isnt able to field much more than that. And you have a decent CC army there. If you go up I would try beefing up the Glade Gaurd to 5 first. Then get a treekin or an eagle or something alike and maybe after that add a noble, but I dont think a noble is really effective in warbands...
If you would take a noble the first round, then you would have 50pts left... so that would give you enough points for either the GG or the WD...
