Two of the main opponents I play (WE and DE) always play 2 of these things. Recently, The HE player as fallen in love with fielding 4 of them in the 2250 point games that we play. I usually see all of my threats to these things drop in turn one. Even when I screen them they must be exposed at least one turn before I can charge them. The 6 strength 4 shots wreck me before I can threaten them.
Has anyone faced similar situations successfully? What works best?
Waywatchers can be good against them. Also, alters with either briarsheath or amaranthine brooch. For magic, the hail of doom arrow has a good chance of taking one out, well the crew anyway. And the moonstone of the hidden ways can get a unit of wardancers close enough to hit them fairly quickly.
But 4 is a little on the rough side.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
against 4 you are going to struggle. PLace dryads in front of your archers to act as a screen. But it is really unfriendly taking 4 of the suckers.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.
Try combining trees in front of hills when placing terrain - as Wood Elves we can always move the ones our side out of the way at least. At least it narrows their arc of view. Otherwise you're going to have to try and hide from them I guess. I've only faced 2 so far so haven't been splatted too badly, but bad enough! Flyers/Scouts will be handy as always occupying them asap.

You're telling me it is unfriendly, I just want to cry when I see them go down in deployment. Especially when they are on a hill....

I have tried the forest deployment in front of his hills while playing my warriors of chaos. It worked so well that I actually went out of my way to model two beautiful forest terrain pieces. This inspired me to make my 6 inch one and motivated me to dust off my wood elves.
I was just wondering what units worked best to take care of them for our forest friends. I know that in Warriors I can use my heroes on flying discs to attack them from behind my screens. However, the chaos heroes have enough tricks to hopefully survive the one round they are exposed to the bolt thrower fire.
I was hoping that the war hawk riders or eagles could jump out and take em down, but I just don't see them surviving that one round they will be exposed before they can charge.
