Ok so i have a best friend who just switched to DE and i have really no idea how to counter magic, hydras, BT's, and i need any tips i can get. Most games will be at 2250 or 1000. thankss !
take two treemen and call me in the morning
ahah yathink, ? i got no problems with the fuc#in hydraa, i just worry bout the bolt throwes, mages, and shades
My roommate also plays dark elves. He's gone with heavy magic and bolt throwers, throw in a Cauldron of blood and it's been really challenging (I just started playing wood elves). What's been working in my lists are combinations of great eagle, glade riders, war hawk riders, treeman and alter kindred. I deploy a little bit back so he can only has range with the bolt throwers in turn one, keep far enough away from his magic, and then when it's my turn I move up my archers pick of any crossbowmen he might have (which panic if I get lucky), and then throw all my fast units on one flank while positioning my dryads and wardancers on the other. The treeman moves up the board with treesinging (thank you calignor's staff) and already he's got more than enough things to worry about almost breathing down his throat that should leave your glade guard pretty well protected since it's low on his priorities.
Some people prefer taking extra dispel dice, I prefer to kill mages because no mages = no power dice
I don't really like playing aggressively with WE, but it seems to be a necessity against an opponent who can do almost as much damage at range as you, or chillwind you so you can't shoot.
Hope that helps.
ahah yes it dose alot ! i just wanted to see if my plan was good and its practicley the same as yours. good look dude =]
Don't forget about waywatchers. If there is a woods in or near his deployment zone, they can get into the bolt throwers second turn, and are hard to shoot at.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
yah i never forget about them (;
Here's an article on playing against DEs with woodies.
