Welcome to Librarium Online!
yes, i use them most of my games, & they seem to do great.
i use them every now & then & they do the job.
i rarley use them, they tend to die faster and soak up to many points.
no, i never use them, they always fail the job.
Now, im redoin my woodelf army, && EG were alwayssss the unit to catch my eye, but i could never seem to use them right, or give them the right upgrades, ( bsb's ect..) I need tips on how to use these guys so they dont get blown away by aarows and cannons & get to the enemyy to kill some s#it. COMMENT PLEASE ! thankss.
I use mine quite a bit and they are more of an invisible wall for me. First thing I always make a noble that is a turtle and that can survive so they have stubborn, and depending on how big the game is I like to stick a BSB in there with no magic banner so you can give him the Sword of Might and the Annoyance of Netlings or the Fib Shard that makes him -1 to hit. This allows him to survive and also deal some damage back. As far as the unit goes I take about 18 and give them the Banner of Midwinter, this is where the wall part comes in, because this banner allows you at the beginning of a turn, even your opponents to make them unbreakable for a turn, so if you no they are going to get charged by something that will break them, use the banner and then I normally have Treekin or Wardancers running on the flanks to counter the next turn since you aren't going anywhere. As far as the getting shot goes, I usually keep them back and behind my free wood and wait for the enemy to come to me. Hope this helps : )

yahh it dose thankyuu !! but do yu know any tricky tactics with them ?
There really aren't many tricky tactics to do with them that I can really see. I mean you could give that noble the hail of doom arrow and when a unit charges them hit them with that or give him the blight of terrors so when they get charged the unit might actually make the chargers run away which is always funny. They are pretty simple and straight forward though to me: get hit, hold, wait for support.

Most of my games I play the eternal guards and I add a Highborn with the Rythmers harp to give the whole unit 5+ ward and a bsb with annoyance and sword of might. The unit is worth close to 700 points when finished. I keep my treeman close by to abuse stubborn with a bsb.

The only time I have the points/ place for them is in 2000pts or bigger battles. And in those battles the 'block troops' I will see are at least 20 models big. So than the EG are pricy for what they deliver.
total waste of points, utter utter waste. Take Wardancers and they will perform better in ever situation.
- Wood Elves + Orcs & Goblins since 2009 -
Occasionally I make a combat oriented army and play them. They don't do that well, but are a fun change of pace.
I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.
Usualy I don't have spare points to take them, a unit of 16 of them cost like 2 units of 8 dryads, and if I have enough dryads and still got spare points then I take a unit of wild riders.
Lets not be too hasty now..... I'm really curious to see how the Eternal Guard will pan-out in 8th edition, with all it's rumored buffs for block units they might actually become necessary (laugh with me here). Whether or not this proves to be the case, will really have a lot to do with any changes made to skirmish rules.
My new list for 2010....Eternal Guard spam!!!....(i hope not)
