It isn't impossible. Are you playing 8th edition now. Are these games you have lost in 8th?

Just want to make sure I am giving advice based on the proper rule set.

I am right 94% of the time, why worry about the other 3%.

Ok, well you can't out fight him. That is a given. And you can't out magic him. And with the rules rules it is hard to outmaneuver him. So, that leaves shooting.

Go for lots or glade guard and waywatchers. You will want a spellweaver with wand of wych elm for magic protection, with the wraith/cluster carrier.

Some eagles to divert his tough units. In larger games, I have found a spirit sword wielding alter can be a fun surprise.

Post your list, so we can give you some concrete advice.

Also, post your mates list or at least an idea of what he takes normally.

The "A Smart Player Will..." theory is a complete paradox. If we make an assumption that everything we do is outsmarted, then theoretically we can never win.

Right well, what i usually take is:

    Spellsinger,
    1 unit Glade Guard
    1 unit Dryads
    Hero on stag
    Lord

    He takes:
    1 Chariot w/Sorcerer
    1 Lord
    1 unit Chaos warriors
    1 Units chaos kinghts

(This is the usuall, we only play small games the majority of the time)

That's rather full of characters for low points, isn't it?

What unit sizes? Any magic items?

    well unit sizes:

    16 Glade Gaurd
    12 Dryads

    5 Knights
    12 Warriors

We dont really include points for characters, if you know what i mean. I know its bending the rules, but its how we play

I'd go ahead and make a guess that you're losing because your opponent has about 500 points in troops to your 350 points in troops and his heroes probably outcost yours by, oh maybe 300-400 points, could be even more. Tends to be the main reason most people play with points and follow the rules...

Yup, that does tend to be a pretty good reason for having them.
