Welcome to Librarium Online!
So, I'v finally started working on my new Skaven army but I have desided to keep my old Wood Elves aswell and try to make the elf army stronger, That way I can chose what army I feel like playing. But I'd like some advice and tips on what to get for my wood elf army..
So far I have 24 Glade Guard with 1 musician and 1 standard bearer, 20 Wardancers, 1 spellweaver, 1 lord, 1 treeman, 12 dryads and 8 Glade riders.. Been considering getting 1 more treeman but I dont know what else I should get for the army..
Treekin and Warhawk Riders seem nice but they are so expensive and you only get 1 per box..
A good idea would be more Glade Guards, as you can never get enough of those. I'd also like to recommend Wild Riders.
That means Sir Isaac Newton is the deadliest-son-of-a-bitch in space!
My plan is to reach 2400 points (I think it was..?) so I can have 3 treeman (Well, Two treemen and one Treeman ancient) Cus in most of my battles the treeman, ad ocasionally a couple of dryads, Are the ony things I got left on the table.. Though.. The treeman has only ever been killed twice (Once by extreemely lucky magic and one by half the enemy army charging him at once..XD)
A couple of extra Glade guard groups might be usefull to have arround.. Do you normally have a command group in them? I only ever used Champions, but I stopped that because in every single fight I roll badly and the Champions always gets a 1 on to hit.. (19 out of 20 times the champ's dice ends up getting 1.. I got real bad luck at times...)

Hope you mean 2,500 points
Division of points are usually in 500s with 1750, 1850 and 750 being the 'accepted' anomalies. Unless your group has decided something different.
If you want Treekin and Warhawk Riders then have you considered conversions? There are a couple of topics on here showing Treeman conversions from Dryads. Warhawks may be trickier though.
Fantasy: Wood Elves, Dark Elves, Beastmen and Tomb Kings.
LotR: Misty Mountains and Rohan
I always loved Warhawks, but I think in 8th there are far better uses for the points. Heck, for less points, you can have two eagles and get the same utility. Redirecting is much tougher nowadays, so is marchblocking. I'd go for less points, two units instead of 1, and add eagles. 40 points a model is just too much. You lose one eagle, you lose 50 points. Bargain.
Wild Riders and archers are good. Glade Riders seem less useful nowadays, too.
I dont play tournaments or anything, We are just a group of friends and we normally dont have any set point ranges, Instead we deside before each battle based on what we feel like really. So one battle might be 1600 points, another might be 1230 points, Another might be a 5 way battle of 200 points each. And when counting just on the points I think I got it to about 2400 needed to be able to have 2 Treemen within the legal 25% limit
And the Warhawk Riders seemed good with their rule to fall back rather then flee.. Thats really the main reason I think they seemed good.. XD
And.. If I am not making much sence I appologice, It's 10 minutes past 4 in the morning and I got no idea why i'm still awake..
I'd deffinatelly get some more archers. Maybe buy a batallion set? You'll get more archers. Glade riders that you can convert to wild riders and dryads you can either use as dryads or convert them to tree kin. The Tree kin are extremelly useful so i'd buy them anyway. but then again that's me
But Archers, Archers, Archers!! They should be the core of you'r army. and if you have some friends who play heavilly armored armies or Demons you should consider getting some waywatchers as well. Flamers and Flesh Hounds can be killing blowed! My watchers take out 1-2 flamers every shooting fase every time i use them, and the fact that they are skirmishers, have the cape that gives them even more protection from missiles and the fact that you probably have longer range than your opponent makes it easy for you to position them so that he cannot charge you and he only hits on 6s if he tries to shoot.!
My opponents play Vampire Counts, Dwarves, Warriors of Chaos, Bretonnia and Orcs & Goblins. One of them is also working on a High Elf army. I'v used Waywatchers a couple of times by proxying a group of Glade Guard as them and they worked well, Aspecially since my enemy mostly ignored them
Considering more archers.. Maybe a group or two.. And mayhaps another mage, Then when I get up to higher points I can have one Life mage and one Beast mage.. I considerd getting a group of 8 Treekin (After some sugestions from other wood elf players) But that would end up costing more then the rest of my army put together have cost me..
Honestly, your best bet is to just fill in the army with the units you like the most. Cause while I may tell you to use unit A and B, they may not be what someone else recommends. The best advice I've seen for 8th edition is to honestly fill your army with units you like to play, I've seen more successful lists using that strategy than ones that throw in the best ones that others recommend. Also, if you know how to use a unit properly that's going to make it 100x more effective than one that I may recommend that you never use.
